While it's the stuff of legend, it's supposed to be a nightmare on the Salt. Car is supposed to wiggle around a touch like you are on ice at higher speed and especially with our wider tires (so they told me)
Plus they are ***** on speed out there. With our setups (stock car with no 5 points and roll bars etc) we would be limited to something like 120mph. (I forget but it's close to that) 120???!!! We hit that entering the interstate.![rolf](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)
Go over that and you are shown the exit and banned.
I think I may go just to watch for the first time ever.
Sure wish it was like the Top Gear episode where they got to go all out!! Guess ricers would be dying left and right though.

Bonneville has always been a blast. There is such a huge diversity of cars out there from Flathead fords to Formula one powered vehicles. I was racing a Freightliner diesel truck and while we did not meet out goal we did hit 217.844 in the final mile. I have been to SCTA (Aug/Oct) events for the last 17 years but this was the first time I had been to a USFRA event in September. It was a little different and had two street car classes for 130 and 150 MPH.
The density altitudes were killing us this year at over 5500ft but the real problem with our truck was constant lock up torque converter problems. Hopefully we can get the tranny issues worked out and go rebreak our record next year at 228.8MPH.
Hope I can see some of you there next year.
