Mod advice? Just bought an E63
Just bought my 1st AMG and I don't know much about performance mods for this car. Can anyone recommend some mods that I can get started on....

You can start with these simple mods first:
Stainless long-tube performance race headers
Stainless 3" race exhaust with performance x-pipe and hi-flow resonators (optional cats)
Custom intake modification
Dampened crankshaft and accessory pulley kit
ECU/Software upgrade (Stage 1 & Stage 2)

Congrats! Evosport makes and offers a great selection of 63 AMG mods. The simple ones to start with IMO: Evosport Power Pulley , Intake, ECU, Phenolic Spacers. You can then add Long Tube Headers, etc.

Is the car still under warranty? I was in a similar boat as yourself. Mine is under warranty
1. Car is expensive to mod! I would first do a Carbon Filter delete (Altho you may be in Sverige, if thats the case your car doesnt have the filters) and then do a K&N filter. Make sure to let the filter dry before installing or you may get a CEL.
2. Exhaust system upgrade. On the E63 the greatest gain is by modifiying the Cats, then headers(Dollar spent to power gained tho, tune is the best way to go). I recently did resonator delete on my E63 and it sounds wicked good. Like a W212 E63 or C63 when in paddle mode you get the little back pops and I enjoy it a lot. Its more of a growl under your breath sound. Car has 0 Drone and quite as a Kitten at idle. I dont think there is any power gain. As for loss of back pressure by changing the exhaust I was told that it wasnt something to worry about with that mod.
3. Get a Custom DYNO tune if you are going to spend the money on a tune ($1200+ spend a little more get it custom tune its a $30k engine). Altho I am sure 99% of the cars never have a problem with a canned tune (I have heard of issues on previous cars I have owned as well as on this board, not starting anything just an observation) Dyno tune is the safest way to go in my opnion and you can truely monitor the Air Fuel ratio and know based on your DA you are in if the car is running where it needs to be.
I am sure other will chime in saying I am wrong on several things but these are my observations after a couple months of ownership. Its always about the "SUCK, BANG, BLOW" the better an NA motor can do this the more power it will make!
Best Regards,
KC

Adding a LSD and upgrading the susp are other good ideas not yet mentioned.
This maybe a bit pricey but still an outstanding option:
- RENNtech shorty or mid length headers (they both bolt to the stock cats)
- RENNtech sound/performance pipe + sport mufflers
- RENNtech carbon fiber air boxes
- RENNtech custom dyno tune

Thanks for the list.. I started with the cosmetics 1st.. HRE's, Red calipers, lowered and X-pipe. I was told that the only performance mods worth doing are long tube headers, tune and an LSD, everything else is just a waste of money...
That is a pretty bold statement that everything else is a waste of money. You should really get with a tuner that has done a lot of 63 tuning. You are local, let me know if you want any advice or assistance. Nobody in the US has done more with the 63 than we have, and we are in your back yard.

I looked at your PDF, i am playing devils advocate here I am not trying to upset ANYONE, If you can show me the value I will be the first to buy. Do you have graphs to back your pulley statements of the gains you have made as they are huge numbers or are those crank numbers? Was the Temp and the DA the exact same on both days of the test or even if it was one day. I am only asking because coming from an American car world, people who spend the money on pulley mods are just laughed at (Unless its a Blown car) as the gains are minimal if any at best, and for a $1000 for pulleys more thank likely something is being over spun in order to achieve this. Usually on american cars its the power steering pump or alternator pulley. Is it worth the power if any and what is being over spun?
Another performance mod I have a question about is the "Heat Spacer" do these spacers go between the throttle body and intake manifold? If so as I understood those only really worked effectively on carburated cars? If this isnt where it goes could you please elborate?
Looking forward to your response, I am asking these questions to inspire a healthy debate about what works and why and to learn more about what these motors respond to.
All the Best,
KC

Yes, dyno charts for all of our mods are on this forum. Feel free to ask around. Superlicity in fact has a whole thread detailing and documenting gains at each step.
Pulleys - nothing is over spun, FYI. Everything is run within tolerance of factory spec. People can laugh at you all they want as they see your taillights! lol. We have been selling pulley mods for MBZ and BMW for 10 years and have dozens and dozens if independent dyno's and threads all about various sites. I can show you our own dyno's, but skepticism and cynicism might lead you to not trust them, so look at others!
Phenolic Spacers - they go between the intake manifold and and the head. they isolate the heat from the motor so as not to heat the intake as much. You are thinking of a different purpose with the same product. However, heat is heat - carb or EFI. Heat is the enemy of air in our motors.
Always happy to answer good questions.
thanks

Modding a 6.3 does not add up, sorry. 15K for a 60-80hp gain? Ridiculous! A simple tune, a lowering module and you're set. And dude - you live in Newport Beach. Where the hell are you going to go fast around there? Maybe the 55 eastbound at 2am you could leg it out while approaching the 405.
A $1,500 tune will get you 540 crank hp. Way more than enough power for a California resident.

Nitrous works well on high compression motors.
Just sayin.

Yeah, if you really wanna drop $15K on a 63 motor, I'd say get a C or CLK so it will at least end up pretty fast. Unless you have no Pano, aahhh I wish I didn't...
