Does larger TB require headers?

I am about to purchase a 82mm TB (+possible porting...) and was wondering if it made sense to do so without getting headers?
Since this is for my G and I cannot seem to find any header that fit my budget I was wondering if it might be overkill and just have my stock TB ported?

think of the motor as a air pump the more air you put in the more has to come out.

Not "required", but would help tremendously.

Also, while you replacing your TB, get some heat reflective material and wrap the IC too.

well unless you're the hulk you better be prepared to lift and take out the supercharger your self! It "IS" possible but it'll require some help!

but then again... i'm not mechanically inclined either... haha

Yes, wrap the intercooler in heat reflective material. The ic sit in between the engine banks, very bad place.

The sc is very heavy, but it can be done by one person.

Do you have any pics of your wrapped ic? What type (brand) wrap did you use?

Thanks so much for the input so far!

Yeah, that was precisely my concern. I will have to post some pictures later but the engine compartment is so tight, I seriously am wondering what the headers for the G that Renntech and Kleeman make even look like.

Maybe removing the cats, muffler and only having a Hi-Flo cat might offset the stick headers?

Great point! Yes I will definitely look into doing that! Recommendations for the material would be greatly appretiated!

About to get my baseline Dyno run done tonight - next week install of mods will begin

Expecting 280HP on all 4 wheels tonight

+1 They make heat reflective tape. Either in gold or silver IIRC. Peal it off ans stick it on. I've never tried in on a MB IC but it might be worth a try.

maybe google "gold heat reflective tape"

No, I did not wrap my IC when I did my TB swap and I'm greatly regret that decision. I'll wrap my IC this winter. Jeg's have some silver heat reflective material that you can peel off and tape to the IC. I've used those on my GMC Typhoon and it worked great.
