Nope I'm buying it from the owner. He's friends with the dealers owner and they are just helping facilitate the sale.

I still find it very odd that the owner, with those nice cars, would not have one document to show its a K4.

Then you should be confident and know what you are getting. The bottom line is this board protects its members and has caught tons of fraud and scammers. Since you asked you had to imagine that some of us might question the EBAY posting. Since you are doing the owner to buyer direct process just make sure it has the parts. Good luck.

The dealer said he probably has the paperwork but isn't sure. I asked him to confirm and find the paperwork. If not, I'll ask them where the work was performed and confirm with them.

Not to pile on but it sounds like you may be getting emotionally attached and it is carrying over into the business component of the transaction. . .I find it a very bad idea to buy a high performance car that was taken to an even higher state of tune with no supporting documentation, let alone taking the word of a "shop" that you have no relationship with or cannot verify whether the work was really done or not (it should be verified by more than verbal assurances before you get on a plane). I'm not saying this is too good to be true or it is not an opportunity to jump on, but be careful because if it goes wrong - it can snowball into an expensive mistake... Good luck with your purchase - hope it all works out for the best. . .

If there are no receipts/paperwork, then just consider it stock and pay accordingly. Lots of people embellish what is on their cars when it comes to selling it. You can also ask the dealer to dyno the car for you while you are there. If there are mods to support the 600 hp claim, it should pull at least 480 hp - 500 hp at the wheels.

ask him to take a picture of the headers,I might have a few pics of my kleemann headers on here somewhere.
now if the engine bay looked like this,we would most def say go for it
and this comes up alot when you search k4 and the k4 is supposed to have a full exh system.
another k4 with different engine cover,I also think the k4 exh is 2 rectangle exh instead of the quad that we have stock.

The eBay auction is awful (and that is an understatement), the pictures are lacking as well. But I would give the seller the benefit of the doubt, to make up "Kleeman K4" would be downright fraudulent and nasty and so might be very believable.
To help in the visual department, this is what the Kleeman headers looks like, as photographed on my car (I had my Kleeman headers Jet Coated hence the very silver finish and appearance), my car is at stock ride height and stock wheels so is VERY similar to the eBay car you are interested in, so again believable and maybe give the seller the benefit of the doubt.
Good luck! Yasin

I worked for a used car dealer, and every other car was driven by a retired Colonel, or a grandmother. Some dealers do not have the ethical standards that most of us on this board have. I would research, and if there is the slightest bit of doubt, it is most likely bullsh*t.

Here is a question. Did he or the owner explictly say its a Kleemann K4, or did they say "ya, it's Clean-Man...most expensive one..." Cause as the above poster said, car salesman are dirty hacks, who will tell you anything they think you want to hear. My friend owns an exotic car dealership and has lots of Lambo's, ferraris, etc, but would not know a K4 from his cat. Honestly my gut is telling me that's not a remotely a K4.

Just tell the owner to produce a copy of the check or wire transfer he sent to Kleeman for the work. This should give you a pretty good idea of how much was spent modifying the car. I don't know the cost of the individual K1-K4 upgrades, but if you know the total amount you should be able to back into what mods were completed based on the amount of the bill..
