2005 E55 Kleemann K4
Purchasing a 2005 Kleemann K4.. Questions.
Hello,
I'm new to MBWorld.org. I have been a long time owner and just ended my relationship with my Audi S5. I am planning on purchasing an E55 with a Kleemann K4 kit. The owner claims the car is a K4 but does not have any paperwork to verify it. Is there anything I can check in the engine bay to verify that it is indeed a K4 and not a K2 or K1 etc.
Also, not as important, but what do these cars tend to produce on the dyno?
Thanks in Advance!

You may want to email Cory @ Kleemann to ask his opinion. You should be able to spot the headers pretty easily. I don't yet know what Kleemann's 80mm throttle body looks like compared to stock so I can't help you there and K3 = Cams so that would be impossible to tell by just looking under the hood.
Sounds incredibly bizarre the owner doesn't have any documented proof of the mods
Best of luck with the purchase. Strap it down on a dyno and see what she puts down. Should be close to 520whp if it's K4, would be my guess.

You should be able to see headers, 80mm TB and Pulley. Unfortunately no way to verify the Cams are installed, except for maybe some idle lope or with dyno numbers which should be around 530-550 whp

The reason why the listing is vague is because it is the owners friend (a dealer) who is selling the car. He claims the car was modified by Kleemann (I doubt that) and it is the most expensive kit they sold. He says it was done when the car was brand new and can't locate the paperwork.

Hahaha I agree. But this at least APPEARS to be legit. The dealer doesnt really know much about the car. The owner, has a ML63, S65, 911 Turbo and Lambo LP640. He never uses the E any more. I'm just curious if I can visually ensure that its a K4 kit. When I fly down to Pittsburgh to take delivery I won't have wired the $$$ over until I drive it and know everything is legit.
Maybe Kleemann has VIN records of any car they've done? Or are there any Kleemann authorized installers in the Pittsburgh area that might confirm they worked on the car.
Regardless, $32k for a clean low milage E55 I think is fair. It's fully loaded with adaptive seats, nav, and a pano roof.

Very simple, get a pic of the the TB and crank pulley. If the TB is OEM 74mm then there is no way it's a K4 car cause nobody would do Cams before TB. I also think K4's came with Kleemann Airbox and SC cover. Bottom line I would doubt it without proof

Ok so the consensus is that I need to take a look at the TB. And I assume they are clearly marked Kleemann?
HammerDown: I think its possible to have an engine without those Kleemann badges. Some people want their engine looking stock for warranty purposes.

you may be right but someone that spends K4 $$$ is not worried about the warranty.

Like I said the owner, is very well off. Owns a variety of performance cars and exotics. He absolutely has the means to have done a K4 on this car. He's not looking to screw someone over or make a buck.

But its not in his hands, its with a dealer now and that changes the dynamic... Who mods their car to the max and doesnt have one shred of proof? Id be cautious here. Im not saying it doesnt have the mods but with our proof to me its not legit.
