Just wondering, whats the overall cost for the front end? Did you have to get new headlights?

Nice job. Curious as to why you changed the steering wheel? Just to have done a "full" conversion or do you like the feel/setup of it better?

cheers guys

E63 steering wheel is much better than the e55 wheel, thicker and nicer to hold, also has the aluminium paddle shifters

i like the prefacelift mirrors better than facelift so they will stay

also the lights as i have active cornering, im not gonna mess wit hthem either, plenty other things to spend money on #

HOW did you get the e63 wheel to work on a 04? I thought it would only work on 06's.

please share details.

cheers guys

its a 805 build from the factory so essentially a 2005 build even tho it was supplied in sept 2004.

2005 onwards (if its 805 or 806 stated on your data card) are straight swaps for the steering, so i got lucky!

So steering wheel and airbag is a direct bolt on (for 805 & 806) ? I thought it was much more involved ....Just when I was set on a DCT wheel.....Guess I will have to look into the e63 wheel. Thanks (BTW - car looks great.)

Alps,
Your car looks awesome! I have been waiting to see someone do the conversion in silver with the SL65 wheels. Regarding the steering wheel upgrade, What parts did you need to make it work? New air bag & wheel center? Did the paddle shifters plug in or did you have to modify? I have a 805 build and want to do this upgrade.

I am in London at least monthly. Are parts over there easier to come by? Bringing them home isn't a problem and I wouldnt need to ship or commercial airline home with them.

I just got the E63 wheel for my E55, and can't believe how much better it is. Softer leather, better grip, and of course the paddles.

Hey guys,

Parts are not easy to come by, best place is ebay.de.

steering wheel and airbag were bought new from ebay.

totally different from the stick like feel of the original E55 steering wheel
