Hey Guys,

I'm looking for some help, a few weeks ago my check engine light came on while driving into work. This has happened several times before but usually the light would turn off by itself, not this time. Long story short I pulled the fault code on the OBD II scanner, which came up p0128 (faulty coolant temp sensor). Although I's still under warranty and the car is otherwise running well, I'm looking to replace the sensor myself. Anyone have access any diagrams or intimate knowledge on replacing the sensor? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

If the car is still under warranty, why would you? take it in.

Looks like I'll have to. My local benz dealer here in town stinks, I was hoing to avoid dealing with them at all. As it seemed like a easy DIY project.

Weird Holland, I really put some time into this searching and I can't find this flipping thing anywhere. Nothing on search and nothing on Google.

Are you talking about the 55 engine? If so the coolant temperature sensor is located on the front of the engine just to the left of the thermostat if you are looking at the thermostat. Hope this helps!

Yup that sounds like what I'm looking for. Like I said, the code keeps coming up p0128. There was a thread about a year back, in which another member was having similar issues. Unfortunately the member never followed up on his/her DIY repair. The part only costs between $13-15 online so i figured that it could be that difficult of a project.

Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a cls55amg. I had my coolant temp sensor replaced under warranty.
I was told at the dealership that they had to remove the supercharger to replace it.
