I did ask when I called MBUSA today and they said "a surcharge may be applied." Of all the dealers I've spoken with, that surcharge is 10% after 30 days from the vehicle purchase date/in-service date. And if I buy the ELW anytime before the factory warranty is up, then I'll have to add 10%. But when I asked for quotes, I gave them my VIN and they could see that it was after the 30-day period. So prices I'm getting now are including that 10%.
As MBUSA said, this is a dealer add-on product. The dealer can sell it for any price they feel the market will bear. They can add any surcharges they feel like (all MBUSA says is "a surcharge may be applied.") The only thing one needs to do is simply to get the best price that one can from a dealer while knowing that this is a 100% markup product. All the surcharges and any other mumbo-jumbo really mean nothing. Bottom line is just the final price.
Again, these were the best prices I could get:
7 years and 75k for $3590
7 years and 100k for $5290
Another dealer gave me these prices:
7 years and 75k for $4900
7 years and 100k for $6600
Not sure what the MSRP is, but another dealer had quoted 7/100k for $6800 and 7/75k for $5200. I'm guessing that this is close to MSRP.
EDIT: just to be clear, those prices above include the post 30-day 10% surcharge.

1) If the original owner does NOT purchase warranty within the first 30-days of the new car purchase date, the surcharge is 15% and does NOT change throughout the lifetime of the warranty. All three dealers agreed on this one.
Note: FJ confirmed that the surcharge used to be 5%, 10%, and 15% a few years ago, but is now a fixed rate. The other dealers did not know for sure.
2) Only the original owner can purchase the ELW. The second owner or entity can NOT - unless of course they are purchasing through a Mercedes-Benz dealership and the car itself has been certified by a Mercedes-Benz dealership, and they are buying the warranty at the time of purchase.
3) Price quote for ELW for 2007 to 2009 E63:
7 year/75,000 miles = $48xx
7 year/100,000 miles = $69xx
4) Two of the dealers mentioned that the 15% surcharge was waved until the end of this year, which means the above quotes do NOT include the surcharge. The third dealer did know what I was talking about

Thanks for getting that cleared up.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
That's what I thought (about only the original owner getting the ELW and the fixed surcharge.) Although in my dealings with it, the surcharge was quoted at 10%. But as I mentioned in one of my posts, MBUSA told me that the "surcharge may be applied" and so it seems to be up to the dealers. It appears that they can charge up to 15% after the 30-day period.
As far as those prices, the 7/100k appears to be close to MSRP. That figure that you got is near to what the highest priced dealer quoted.
Mo, I sent you a pm....

2005 E500 Estate Wagon
I didn't read through the whole thread...but to the OP.....We bought an 05 E500 wagon with 28,000 miles on it a couple years ago @ MB in CT. It was CPO'd for a year after the 5/50,000 and up to 100,000 miles. For an additional $800.00 at the time of purchase....we had the CPO warranty extended to 3/100,000!!!
The in service date was 7/05...and it's now under CPO warranty until 7/13 or 100,000 miles.

Just for the record, the warranty that Mo listed with prices is the new car (one owner) ELW (extended factory warranty.)
For those who bought CPO cars, if you bought any extended coverage you're dealing with the MBCPO Extended Limited Warranty and not the Factory Extended Limited Warranty. There's a difference, I called MBUSA about it.
I think we're mixing apples and oranges on this thread. These are two different products and processes: the ELW and the MBCPOELW.
To make it even more confusing, MBUSA told me there are four different warranty products: 1) the original factory limited warranty; 2) the extended factory limited warranty; 3) the certified pre-owned limited warranty; 4) the extended certified pre-owned limited warranty.

"Again, these were the best prices I could get:7 years and 75k for $3590"
I am going to extend the warranty for my E63 but I have a decent amount of time remaining on the factory warranty. The quote you got of 7yr 75k for $3590 is very very fair.
I stopped by a delaership I used to work and the owner has sold several Mercedes Benz cars to my parents and I got quoted $4400 for a 7yr & 75k mile warranty.
If you give me the name fo the dealer with a quote I will give them a ring and they can have my business. Sorry to Hijack the thread but this is good stuff!
Thanks
