Bogged down after a couple redlines

Hey all,

After a couple redlines my 03 e55 seems to go into some type of safety mode where I loose most of my power completely. Usually comes back after a few minutes?

Intercooler pump?

Thanks

Jason

Your car is going into limp mode. Most likely a pump, your too hot. If your pump is bad you will lose power after a few attempts at WOT

More than likly your IC pump,
How do you plan on using the car? Just a daily driver with a once in awile blast or going to go to the track or more racing? You may want to consider a pump upgrade and splitting the system, Other wise just replace the pump.
The progression of cooling is like this:
Upgraded pump
+ split the system
+ Heat exchanger
+ rear tank res.(ice as needed)
+ Water/meth injection

Yup replace that pump and you'll be good to go. I was so happy when i changed mine. No more shutting down after those high speed runs down in Mexico.

How hard is the install? Should I buy special fluids because some might leak when disconnecting the hoses?

Just got the new pump today..

install is very easy. there is a write up in the DIY section. You may want to have some coolant on hand.

Just replaced it, took about a hour and a half. Super easy and I'm no mechanic by a long shot.
Already feeling a pretty big difference through the gears.

One question:
By the electricals, there was a very small hose connected to the stock pump that the CM30 did not have. No fluid came out of it when I disconnected it, so I just left it dangling there and there doesn't seem to be a problem. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

Dumb question, why is there a need for an aftermarket pump?

Couldn't you install a new OE pump (especially for CPO cars)?

You can and the newer OE pumps seem to be better as far as failing or reduced flow rates.

The Johnson pump has higher flow rates than the stock pump. As intake air temps (IATs) rise, power drops off so higher IC pump flow rates keep IATs cooler and result in less power loss.

^ Higher flow as reported by who, Johnson manufacturing?
I do not recall anyone measuring flow of both pumps while pushing coolant through the i/c or h/e.
There was a short video of someone measuring the time it took for each pump(stock Vs Johnson) to fill a bucket and the results were identical.
I would just replace your pump with the stock pump.

I replaced the stock pump on my 06 with a cm30 when I first got the car due to all the threads on the forum saying how bad the stock pump was and what an improvement the CM30 was. I noticed no difference at all in the performance of my car with the CM30.

My dealer freaked out on the CM30 pump and, "suggested", I put my old pump back if I wanted to maintain my warranty. So I did, and it promptly quit working. Dealer replaced it with the new style Bosche pump under warranty and it's been working great ever since.

My take after all this is, that if you're going to replace the pump, replace it with the new Bosche and not the CM30. The Bosche was designed for the car and the newer models don't quit. The CM30 works OK but was originally designed as a bait well pump for your fishing boat. It flows a little more than the Bosche but if increased flow is the goal, there are other pumps that flow a lot more than either.

When I first bought my car the pump was already bad. I wasted my time and money on replacing it with the newer OE pump. Once I installed the Meziere, I have never looked back. I heard a lot about the CM30, but I wanted the best quality pump, and the pump that PUMPS the most. haha.

Don't waste your time and money on another OE.
