Stock E55 runs last night

Went to the track last night to baseline the E55 before I start modding. The car is bone stock (62k miles) down to the paper air filters. Weather was in the low 70's and the DA was 487ft. Car has Falken 452 stock sized tires. I found the best results were with the traction control off and the suspension in comfort mode. Also the car was cooled down for an hour with ice on the surge tanks and supercharger. The transmission was in D/S. Here's the best pass:

60'-1.85
330'-5.22
1/8-8.00
MPH-87.97
1000-10.41
1/4-12.43
MPH-111.30

Seems like it should be trapping more? I suspect the I/C pump is causing this. What do you guys think?

Seems about right to me for stock. When i ran with a bad pump i couldnt trap anything higher than 106.. Once i got a johnson pump my best ET is about 113.

I guess I was expecting 113 mph. I'm sure that kind of mph comes with cold weather?

i'll shed some light on this cause it happend to me, you get to the track for the first time in the 55 and u want 115+ and flop at 111. I did the same thing it was hot and my car was stock. throw some KNNS on it change the oil, take the grille off at the track,(also cut the flaps for the intake) and wait till its colder out and then report back haha.

great launch. top end is a bit slow - even for stock. should see 115-116 traps.

chnage your pump and bleed the SC cooling system.

I agree, great launch! Please let me know how you are getting 1.8 sixty foots with traction off. Your mph should be a bit higher. My best run was a 12.4 at 114.5 with traction on and a 2.0 sixty foot.

Nice job on the launch your 1st time out. I think my best 60' my 1st time out was 1.97.

Save your money your IC pump is fine. If it were failing your traps would be way lower.

Yeah, I'm thinking with some colder weather the car will trap where it's supposed to. I know F/I cars run alot better in the cold weather. In the meantime I may change the I/C pump, it has to be tired with 60k miles on it.

Izzy, the secret to those 60' times are from being a seasoned drag racer. J/K it was luck. I rolled into the throttle and it stuck. I let Cutt drive it on the next pass and he got a 2.09 60'. I was suprised with the 1.85 myself. FWIW this is slowest car I've driven in a long time, lol. I'm used to low 10's @ 13x mph. I could have got me a HOT cup of coffee and sipped it on that pass!

I can't wait to start modding it, I was just wondering if this thing is on par with stock E55's.

Couple things, what was the psi in the tires when you made the runs. The lower the better. Your 60ft was pretty good I bet you could shave a tenth. 467 DA is key! Your corrected time with a slightly better launch and drag slicks should easily be below 12.20 especially after correcting for DA.

Well if you have a stock pump with 60k on it, you should change it anyway.. But thats not the reason your trapping 111.. Bad pump car wont trap more than 106..

Tire pressure was at 32 psi. I could have lowered the pressure but I figured the sixty foot wasn't going to get much better on regular radials.
New I/C pump is on the way.

Nice 60 ft for sure. I went to the track 1 week ago I'm stock also and I ran a 2.0 60ft 12.42 @116 was my best run. I was running 114-115 most of he day. I think u r trappn a lil low also.

Your 60' and ET are really good for a stocker but the trap seems to be way off. Maybe the speed trap beam is farther than 66' from the finish line , granted those things don't just move on their own. It would be interesting to see what other cars were trapping that day.

There are so many factors that go into the 1/4 mile.. I really dont think he would be trapping any higher with just a replacement pump... Obviously a new pump cant hurt, but I highly doubt thats the reason...

Funny how everyone jumps to "get a new pump." Your times were very good for stock, and I do not see anything that tells me your pump is "bad."

I'm not totally convinced my I/C pump is bad. I'm going to need the pump any way with the future mods.

Just to see if it's bad, I'll install just the pump and go back to the track. I'll report the results.

I am guessing your 10 second car was a national? Yes? No? Love those cars!

Yeah, I actually built two different 10 second Buicks. The first one was a Grand National and the second was a Turbo T (86 models were known as T Types).
They're cool cars, but I needed a change.

There might be other mechanical factors beside the pump that wil rob you of hp (is trap).

Have the plugs/wires ever been changed?
How about the fuel pump/sending units?
Then there are the various o2 sensors, map sensor....well you get the idea.

Very nice first run, nonetheless.
Good luck with the mods.
What is your goal now that you have run her stock?

My goal for the car is to go as fast as possible without compromising drivability and reliability. I've built too many fast cars to not know exactly what I want.
