I've been reading some performance stats for the new Jag XKR that cannot be right. Road and Track had an article comparing various high performance cars against their track counterparts and the numbers for the Jag are mindboggling. Acceleration from 80 to 130 for the stock Jag was a second faster (8.4 vs. 9.4) than the track Jag; 2.3 seconds faster than a stock F430(8.4 vs. 10.7), and only 0.3 seconds slower than a Corvette ZR1 (8.4 vs.8.1). I would have thought this was a typo but it was confirmed in the text of the article as well. I have also read in another mag that the new XKR is faster in the 1/4 than the M6 and has a trap speed of 120. These numbers don't make sense for a 3900 pound car with 510 horsepower.

I drove one at the dealer about 10 months ago. I was impressed with the ride. It feels much lighter than you'd expect (all aluminum chassis) and handles really well. I thought it looked beautiful, like an Aston.
The sales guy told me to "drive it spiritedly," so we went off the freeway and I headed out the 23 towards Malibu into the canyons. After a couple of miles I was really enjoying the car, and started to push it pretty hard. That ended the test drive

About friggin time Jaq! Not sure what the heck was going on at those Jaq board meetings all these years.
"Okay mates, so for anotha year, Jaq-u-are sales are yet again way below AMG and BMW. Any ideas gents?"
Small nervous man from way in the back raises hand, "Ummmm, beg your pardon, but why don't we (swallows hard) uhhhh, give the cars higher horsepower so they go as fast as the German cars"
Pause.....than entire boardroom erupts in violent laughter. After it subsides.
"Ohhhh, Smithers, how you can make us bloody laugh. Okay then, let's get back to business, I've had an idea how we can add MORE wood to the interior, then for sure sales will be........."

Auto tranny versus manual--- they leave the manny cars in gear and allow the auto to kick down. I never understood why the mags would do that.

Seems those numbers are off as it's not going to whoop an f430 and it's nowhere near a ZR1...regardless t's a sure thing they're finally worth consideration with this engine...handling/feel is supposed to be really good too. From the ashes they rise!

you will see that the XKR coupe or XFR 4 door perform well against the M5's...
its the 5.0L kompressor engine.. (mustang engine) with 6sp auto.
Also, the 510hp is underrated a bit..
Car has a good top end for sure... better than a stock E55 for sure.
CTS-V and XKR are also very close...
I would rather have the FORD 5.0 vs the 6.2L pushrod.... so much respect to the XKR and XFR.

I had considered the XFR before I looked at the AMG. I was just turned off by the reliablity issues that Jag is known for so I went with the E55. I think the XFR is one of the sexiest sedans on the road and the interior smokes anything Benz makes like a fat joint. It is on my short list of future cars to add to the stable.

I'm actually really happy with what Jag is doing right now. I think the XKR is one of the nicest coupes I've ever seen (definitely nicer than the DB9, but not as nice as the Vanquish). I also think the new XJ is nicer than any of the other cars in its class, inside and out.
Unfortunately though, in the end, it's a Jag, and for me that's a no-no.

Jag has been so far off my radar I don't think I could ever make the move. Who owns them, Tata in India? Or Kim Jong Party in North Korea? Any car with components from multiple car manufactures and supply chains I run from. But, it does look like their moving in the right direction.

The numbers are right indeed. The Jag>Benz. The Benz loses in the races by huge margins.
