How does one remove exhaust tips for powdercoating ?

E55 then E63, now back to an E55
How does one remove exhaust tips for powdercoating ?
It doesn't appear they slide into the muffler with a clamp.....
So the EASIEST removal option appears to be cutting them off with torch BEHIND the muffler - which means lugging the mufflers in to get in the way of the powdercoating process.
I don't think there's enough room to cut off tips only, then re-weld behind mufflers - space is limited.
People with experience ?

you have to remove the whole muffler to PC the tips or like you mentioned to un weld the tack at the tips and then slide them off. BTW what color do you plan to PC them
