Faulty Passenger Fix?

Every time I put something like a pizza or a book on the passenger seat, the car beeps at me like mad and makes me nuts! I guess it’s just a matter of the weight sensor on the seat being miscalibrated. Is there an easy fix for this? If that’s a part I can swap out, will I have the exact same thing happen with the new sensor?

Same here and the dealer insists that it is normal. Had it in three or four times. They tell me that Mercedes calibrates it for 14 pounds (which makes NO sense) but even so, my pizzas don't weigh that. I just buckle the pizza in

Right, right! ANNOYING! So even if they’d calibrate it for 14 pounds…why? The only humans that weigh that much are fresh from the delivery room and it’s not like they’re going to be riding in that seat anyway. I had a quart of milk set it off last night. In my opinion if a manufacturer is going to outfit a car with sophisticated sensors, it’s not going to do the driver any good unless they’re reliable and calibrated correctly. The irony is that the distraction and aggravation it causes combined with the need to drive with one hand while you’re buckling your pizza up or relocating your milk to the floor puts the driver in more danger—counterproductive for a safety sensor!

I don't know how to do those things. How are they done?

Ahhhh the beauties of a 2004 model

There are also seat belt buckles you can buy to just stick in to simulate the belt is actually active. Just a thought.
