Changing Pads with SBC Braking & Disabling System on E55
I know on the E55's - the SBC braking system needs to be disabled with STAR before you open the caliper up to change the pads - otherwise you run the risk of it clamping closed.
However, my question is - if both car batteries are so dead that the key will not even turn in ignition - can the caliper safely be opened with no worries ?
Does the SBC system also apply to the rear calipers & pads, or only fronts ??
Lastly, are rear brake pads swappable between E55's and E63's ?
Thank you

Rear pads on E55 have a different part number than those for the E63. Probably different, but if you're close to a MB dealer, just have the parts guy pull out a set of each and compare the backing plate shape and the thickness of both.
