So as some of you may remember I broke the star on my engine cover…. which led me to sourcing a replacement emblem on EBay….which ultimately led to this project. Took the better part of a day and half to complete, but I really took my time and was extra careful with everything. I even cleaned up the bolts to give them a fresh appearance (I know, I need help).
I spent roughly $75 in parts and supplies, including new gaskets for the SC tanks.
I removed all the parts, cleaned them with simple green, sanded to scuff and painted in several stages. I used a spray paint designed for plastic for the air boxes and both spray and brush on caliper paint for everything else (with ceramic added for extra strength).
Comments welcome…I understand it may be a bit too flashy for some.

it's an addiction - for some reason the gray weave is my crack pipe - I'm actually happy I ask my wife about her opinions on certain things (she's the only reason the interior is CF right now

I actually painted the entire tank red, then removed the paint on the AMG by sanding in stages.
While I agree painting that part black would look great, that's a bit beyond my skill level.

I used Dupli-Color caliper paint that was brush-on. Worked great and was about $15 at Pep-Boys. I have used G2 in the past with great results, but that is like twice as much and needs to be ordered.

Way to up your game. I am not popping my hood at MIR now!
Also, dig the plate, might be good with the ladies....mistakenly inferring hammer as in John Holmes type hammer.

Yeah, I am 100% Holmes...or is it Homer..doh!
I have wanted a plate since I got the car but was stumped for something good. Also considered "11sec DD" and "BLWN AMG" and a few others. Happy with this. The 1986 Hammer changed the way I looked at cars when it first came out. Finally speed and comfort were not mutually exclusive terms. It literally put AMG on everyones radar in this country.
Thanks again for the compliments, means a lot from such a discerning group.
