E63 fun in contagious....use caution.

So we were out to eat last night, and over some tasty Mexican food my friend and neighbor, Jason, tells me that his SUV is in the shop for some work and he had to have his wife drive him to work, which almost resulted in the demise of both of them. To quote him, 'People who say they love riding to work every day with their spouses are nuts'.

So I offer up the option of using one of our cars while his SUV is down as we have more cars than we do drivers due to an automotive addiction that has engulfed my wife and I. Quickly the option of him driving the E63 comes up, and I say sure. We get home and he pulls his wife's car out of the garage so that my E63 has their garage all to itself. Gotta love that.

I give him a quick rundown of how everything works and head home to go to sleep. Fast forward to this afternoon. I send a text asking how he likes the car, and he sends me back one saying, 'Yeeeahhh....umm, you are not expecting to get this car back, are you,' which I show as a good sign he liked the car. I found this to be an understatement as he is now sure that the E63 AMG is the best car ever to set four wheels to pavement. He is now hopelessly addicted to the power, the smooth ride, and the overall build quality of the car, and has no hopes of going back to life the way it was pre-E63. So, if you value your friends....please warn them before exposing them to the E63. Because once they get a taste of it, their lives will never be the same. Did I mention I REALLY love this car?? Half the fun is sharing it with other people. Now....if I could just get an unlimited Shell gas card. LOL!!

Are you nuts, I would never lend my E63 out to the friend. I know that they would drive it, like they stole it...LOL I let my mother drive my car once, she said that car nearly gave her wipelash. She wasn't use to the power her right foot commanded. But your a good man, for doing that. Thank you

Props to you for being a nice guy and a good friend. If it's a car that he may not otherwise have an opportunity to drive, you probably made his year!!!. .

I let my neighbor run his kid to soccer yesterday and had the same results. The best part is he has an Aston V8 Vantage Convt. that sounds like heaven! He is now looking to dump the convt. for a 4 door!

Thanks! He and his wife drive a Ford Escape and a Saturn Aura, so the E63 was surely different than what they are used to. Plus, his father-in-law is a BIG BMW fan. So lending Jason the E63 was extra fun as he was able to tell his father-in-law how my E63 blows away his E46 M3 and 535i.

Thanks everyone else for the kind words. I guess I do this now because I remember all of the times when I was younger and I would see an amazing car and most of the owners would not let you near the car, much less drive it. One day I met a wonderful family who had lots of cars, including an NSX (my dream car). The father let me drive the car, and I decided that day that I was going to do whatever it took to be able to afford an NSX of my own. I also swore to myself that when I had nice cars I would go out of my way to make sure to share the joy with other people and return the kindness they had shown to me. You never know who you can inspire to do great things or chase a dream simply by taking the time out to let them experience a wonderful automobile.

Sold - 05' E55
Funny - I've been in a jamb with my cars at home latley (son's car down) so he's driving the Escallade that my wife would usually drive, therefore my wife has been using the E55 and now she doesn't want to give it back. She said to get another one, I said don't tempt me because I will. We have a bmw also and she said after driving both cars she's over the BMW hype.
I can't wait until next week everything should be back to normal (I think I'll hide the MB keys)

Thumbs up A Good Man

You sir, are a good man. You lending out your car (esp AMG) speaks volumes of the kind of person you are and I applaud you. I have dreamed of the day when owners of amazingly powerful and unique cars would be as human as you are. There is a joy in sharing an AMG with someone who either does not own one or knows of them for that matter. That is the sort of person I aim to be as I grow older and acquire nicer things. It's nice to be in a position to help a friend/neighbor in need literally.

I'm lucky. My wife won't drive my E55 unless it's an emergency. Says it's too damn fast for her. LOL I just love that. My son on the other hand is a different story. I've got to hide the keys when I'm out of town.

Every time I have let a friend use the car they come back with a huge grin on their face and just go on and on about the unbelievabe power. Most people will never get to experience the torque of these monsters and just can't relate.
