My trip to NY Auto Show 4-24
I drove 250 miles yesterday just to take a look at the new E55. My car is scheduled for build 3d-4 for delivery 6-05-03 and I just could not wait. (tectice, pan, chngr,). I spoke with every rep. I could and the most informative was a PR guy named Drew from Mbenz in New Jersey.
Some notes on the car:
-It DOES have a suede (Alcantara) light grey headliner.
-the seats are glove soft and grip your body VERY well.
-The wheels are gorgeous.
-The four exhaust tips are chrome tipped.
-The front air spoiler is about 8 inches off the ground, with a massive black wiremesh screen running it's length embeded at either end with neat eliptical glass bulb road lights.
-The windows seem to be tinted navy blue?
-There is VERY little sidewall to the tires.
-I was told the MSRP would not be released until 5 days b4 deliv.
-Three onsite corporate sales reps told me between $71-$73K (last years pricing)
-i was almost guaranteed that it will be an 04'!! They said that Mercedes always uses the next year model for cars produced early or midyear. They were going to wait for the COMMAND to launch the 04' They claim that will not be happening until October.
It was honestly the nicest car in the show.
Hope this helps.

LYSHOLM, thanks for your observations, inquiries and input.
It seems the mystery surrounding the W211 E55 continues. Especially concerning Base Price, Comand Navigation, and if 2003 or 2004 model. When will the Madness stop?
Where are your pics from the show?

I took a picture of the little information sheet next to the car to verify basic information about the car. Also took a shot of the VIN # for fun.
As I posted on the off-topic section, you can see the rest of my pictures (MB and Non-MB) at:

Enjoy.

I think the MB employees at the shows are either misinformed or uninformed. The statements from the VP at the car's introduction said $76,000 as does Netstar and the MBUSA website speaks for itself.

When will this price war ever end???
God I wish MBUSA would just put the car on the website already!!
I personally think the dealers at that show don't know what they were talking about. Also, why would they say it would be a MY 2004 when we already know there are some 2003's out there!
Only when the website has it will these issues finally be laid to rest!!

I have the Netstar printout for my car, a late May build. The MSRP says $76K, and all the options are std E500 price. Stiggs, uncertainty comes with being an early adopter.

I'm not entirely sure what's going on. I've got them posted through a friend of mine. They were working just fine yesterday afternoon, but let me see what I can find out.
