remove intake housing ran the car with only throttle body under load. supercharger whine like crazy.. as loud like those mustang cobra
I'M THINKING CONVERT DUAL INTAKE TO SINGLE INTAKE PIPING...routing it to washer reservoir (reservoir removed, of course)
due to the reason, i think the plastic intake coupler/splitter (don't know how to call it) on the throttle body. minimize the whine..like a resonator ..
what you guys think?
or i can just get rid the air box total and stick a ice-cream cone shape type air filter on the throttle body itself..?

The E55 guys should get someone to develop an intake similar to the needswings intake.. Im sure with filters right behind the grill we would see much improvement over the stock intake.

Out Of Control!!
After I pick up my E55 I may put together a custom intake. Not as extreme as my CLK intake setup but I'm sure I can figure something out to get some more air in the engine!
Edit: Didn't VRP sell an E55 intake similar to NW intake they called "fangs"?

this setup can and does work --- but with bigger filters.
there is this huge debate about engine heat but think about it -- the air needs to travel so far before it goes into the combustion chamber --- and all those pathways are extremely HOT -- like lava. those oem airboxes are not only restrictive but dont offer any heat deflection !!! Drive your car for 20 minutes and touch them -- better yet -- touch the filters inside -- you can not handle them... they are too hot !! So, it makes no difference... you will make power because you will get more volume of air.
Take off the plastic hood vent cover thing, hood insulation and insulation strips... You will see the hot air flowing out of the hood instead of staying there... this will also help hot air flow out of the engine bay.
I argued this with my pal forever -- he laughed and laughed at me --- until his faster car was suddenly losing to me.... now he copied me and is pulling slowly on me again.
I know people will continue to be skeptics -- but whatever -- say they are right -- the volume and heat will cancel out -- at least the car sounds awesome !!!

yea, same page as me
actually going to leave the stock air box but remove the filter and direct air from front to the K&N filter...w/o splitter...
with the hood vent bottom plastic cover remove...s/c whine is going to be loud..
Similar to "top mount' setup from ShangoAshe...

teflon coated tubes deflect the heat. you can have the loud ill take the cooler denser air!
i can lay my bare hands on my intake tubes after repaeted high speed runs
