I dont think you will gain any power out of that due to heat and the filters is too small for sucking air in.

did you mount it with any brackets? i would be careful it doesn't disconnect from the weight and engine movements.

Yea we did mount it actually, using the factoring mounting bolts with an aluminum bar with rivots attached to the intake.. Worked out pretty well and had a little fun doing it.. Without your pics I would have never thought of doing this ^^^ Im sure your sounds similar and its amazing no??? This is a before pic without the mounts in place..

HAHAHA love your attitude. It definately is your car and you can do whatever the hell you want with it. though I must admit this particular setup does not seem very efficient due to heat soak. I use to get so much crap from people on the Suby forums because I slammed my STi and still took it to race tracks like thunder hill and the occasional mountain runs, those type of comments are really just worthless posts...especially when my times were on par and I was tucking rim!

I can see this intake sucking in hot engine heat, there's no way to get fresh cool air to the engine. So there won't be any power gains.

It's his car dude relax, 3 people already told him about heat-soak he doesn't care. Let him drive around with his crooked tubes.

Quick question to the people in doubt, have you ever tried the setup or logged either or? Maybe you should go by experience and not just repeat what you've read in the past.

To the OP, I'm glad you like your new setup. Maybe in the future you could log some stock vs your new setup IAT's. I have a friend that has a similar setup but with one pipe and a much larger cone filter and he's very fast. He actually logged both his custom intake vs stock setup with no documented gains.

Wait a minute, you don't have a E55 but yet you're telling him what works and what doesn't.....

Believe me my panties are not in a bunch bro (far from).. I spent $125 on this setup and didnt make it with the intensions of gaining any power..

I wish we could have gotten bigger filters in there, but there it was tough as theres not much room (espically on the drivers side)..

If i dont like it, or think im losing power going back to stock shouldnt take more than an hour or two.

If you add a sight bend in the pipes you can fit bigger filters in, although if i had to do it again which i probably will this winter i would extent the tubes through the stock intake holes to be able to put the filters in front of the rad. Some one did it already and i think that is the best way to do it.

I think that for people running meth this type of system might actually be beneficial. Positive displacement blowers love airflow mods( remember when sneaky ran with no intake system and picked up like 50whp running it open air on the dyno). I can guarantee something like this flows more air( albeit from a warmer source) then the factory setup. With chemical intercooling from meth, I can see this being a good temporary track setup. Not sure I would run it every day as the whine would probably get old fast.

I am thinking a setup similar to this with filters directly behind the grill would add a few HP to the equation, on top of the growl.

Deflectors, similar to what a vendor here sells. Have been thinking of something similar for mine.

lol kid did you do this right after I gave you the renntech pulley?I think in the winter this will actually make decent power but in the hot summer it might heat soak you bad,but either way were done in the summer anyway.

I would break off the plastic covers on the front intake grill area and make another tube that just goes around those filters.

if you want to do some friendly pulls id love to see how your beast does.

ohh if you want to hear that supercharger try driving around with no intake at all with just an open tb,that sounds unreal haha.
