Meisterschaft Exhaust and resonator delete question
Okay guys
I wanted to keep this under wraps until I had pictures and sound, but I got a meisterschaft exhaust system today thanks to RenntechE55!!! I sent it off to be powder coated in sterling silver, so it will look like new and shiny of course
.
I really want my car to be sound *** lol, and while I know the meisterschaft exhaust will do that I was thinking about killing two birds with one stone by removing the resonator at the same time. I am wanting and thinking about removing the resonator and replacing it with two 3" straight pipes like so many have done before on the forums.
My question is, will this cause the car to drone at all? I am thinking that it will not because of the meisterschaft exhaust, but overall just give it a louder grumble. Is my assumption wrong?
Also, I do not want to touch the cats, so am just wondering about resonator and how this will mesh with the meisterschaft exhaust. Getting it done on Friday, so comments appreciated before then, thanks.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Bro, I have headers, cats and straight pipes from the cats to the Meistrshaft and.......OMG.....it sounds sick as hell. Very deep rumble. It sounds great. I wish I could gt a sound clip. Let me work on it today.

Definitely plan on drone if you remove the center resonator. You'll likely get some modest drone even with it still intact. On my car, the drone occured in the 1,600 - 2,000 RPM range, with 1,800 RPM being the drone sweet spot. Continuing spousal complaints about said drone necessitated me reinstalling the lovely factory mufflers (removed and sold Eisenmann Race). Wifey now happy once again.

I got Eisenmann race and have the resonator deleted before the new exhaust. It just sound damn loud, people in the middle of the street will look at you once you just turn into it. But the fact is I got drone from 1600-2000 rpm which is your normal cruise speed rpm, I got real headache for hearing the drone. And because I couldn't found any used resonator, so I asked my muffler shop to put a side band resonator just before the pipe going into the exhaust. It does give me back some torque and it still rumble, the most important is less drone.

So the drone will be really bad e55amggg04? From interpreting your post you are saying that once I remove the resonator it will sound very good? Just do not want a ton of drone while I can live with a little

After searching the forums and watching tons of videos for the last three hours I made up my mind.
I am going to remove the secondary cat and replace it with a 3" straight pipe and the resonator also with 3" straight pipes in place going out to the meisterschaft exhaust. It should be hella loud and mean!!!!!
Plus, I read that removing the secondary cats will equal out the lost power of straight piping the resonator.
I have one question though. Is deleting the secondary cat illegal? Thx.

do it and dont look back mickey. you can always re-install if it is too much, and like you said, $3000 mufflers can only sound like heaven once given the opportunity

F * C K I am concerned about drone now lol. I have OCD so I cannot make up my dang mind! I am going to list options and somebody please tell me what they think will be best for keeping the drone away while staying very mean sounding! Also, I threw in secondary cats because I heard it will balance out the power lost down low from removing the resonator.
1) Leave cats and replace resonator with 3" straight pipes than to Meisterschaft race
2) Delete 2nd cat and resonator with 3" straight pipes than to Meisterschaft race
3) Delete 2nd cat with X-Pipe and delete resonator with 3" straight pipe to Meisterschaft

My wife calls it analysis paralysis.

Which of these options have you heard in person? That would be the deciding factor for me. Everyone has a different tolerance for interior droning, it would suck to make a bunch of changes and then hate the car (BTDT on other cars!).

If I were you I will do option 1) first and drive it for a while if you like the sounds. I have a SL55 with Brabus Exhaust I drove it for 2years with it then last year I have remove the resonator. It sounds much better got more louder
but better sound than exhaust alone ( wife did not know that I have removed resonator she noticed that it got louder but no complaint yet.

Okay guys. I got the meisterschaft race exhaust welded on today and it sounds pretty good with no drone at all. The only issue I have is that it is a lot more quiet than I thought it would be. I am having the resonator taken out tomorrow in place with 3" straight pipes, so that should give me more sound.
Do you think it will be a lot louder by doing this?

Yes, but I bet you will not think it is that loud still. I have all that and headers, and I dont think mine is that loud.

Okay guys. I have had the exhaust set-up done now except for the x-pipe for three days and I am totally impressed!!! At first the car did not sound loud to me, but after getting the resonator removed with 3" straight pipes in place the overall effect is amazing
The car is so nasty when listening to it from the outside that it makes you want to **** yourself
