Agreed, my rear passenger door handle quit working no **** 30min after replacing my driver side door handle.. I'm not fixing it. It will lock, it just won't unlock.

BMW M5 + E55 AMG
My passenger side rear door only opens from the outside, and I've noticed the handle portion that you pull (on the outside) doesn't sit flush with the little end bit of the door handle assembly either.
Any ideas?

Thanks for all the good tips.
Anyone have a suggestion as to where to get the best price on a Drivers Chrome (Iridium Silver) Key-Less go door handle?

$166.50 plus shipping right now on parts.com for the front left door w/ Keyless Go.
Mercedes Part number: 21176011709775 (iridium silver color)
I'm sure you could find elsewhere but that's a decent price.

Out Of Control!!
I am not sure why I was having problems finding the part listed, but searching with the part number with color helped.
Found it here for about the same cost and much less shipping.

I encountered a problem when removing the electrical connector. A small rectangular plastic bit inside the door that must have held the female connector inside the door has come loose. Am I stuck now having to remove the door panel and remount the connector mount from the inside? I am afraid that if I just leave it that the wiring might catch on the window regulator.

I have to do the right hand front door on mine ( drivers door on a RHD car )
it unlocks, but does not lock.
rear door does work fine, but as mentioned the rear works in the front door, but unsure if the front works in the rear.
plus if I put a brand new one in the front door, it will last another 10 years.
my car is a silver E55 MY06 model.
from what I can see the part number is A21176012709744
Can someone confirm if this is correct ?
Also I tried to get pricing, everywhere I could see was $230 or so plus shipping.
Any suggestions for lower pricing ?
Thanks

This happened to me and I ignored it and the wires going to the connector ended up broken. I just finished the repair and it required removing the door panel, lock actuator, exterior door handle, and the interior piece for the exterior handle. There was lots of cussing involved but I managed to repair the wires and snap the connector back into the proper position. Nothing worked right after reassembly, including the window and the rear door but over the next few days it somehow reprogrammed and now everything seems to be back to normal.

I am probably going to buy all 4, and replace the 3 and keep the 4th one as a spare.
Because I know it will die soon, ( probably the day after I fix the 3 bad ones ! )
still trying to find a place under $218 USD each !

You might be able to repair them Paul for alot cheaper. All it is on either side is a switch tonopen and a switch to close. The switch just triggers the lock an unlock mechanism within the door. Just open them up and dry them out with a hair dryer. Check the wiring to each of the switches/ the one on the inside and outside. (Lock and unlock)

I read a post on here a while back where someone repaired them. Ie just dried it out and replaced a wire or two. If i can find it ill link it to you.

I found these pdfs on the interwebs some time ago and thought I would contribute to this thread. I wish I knew where I found them to give the author credit.

Anyone know what the interior sensor is, the one that says "key not detected" or "key still in vehicle"? I get both messages and have to jingle my keys around to get the push button start to work. Before I change the door sensor I'll want to sort this out, maybe replace batteries (though it happens with both keys in car).

So I pulled them out and cleaned them.....Heaps of times, finally now it is okay.

door handle
Looking at the EPC for my driver door handle it calls for A2117601170 9775
When looking on line I see all the paint colors including Iridium Silver, but mine is chrome, its not painted, so can anyone tell me what is the part number for a chromed handle? (left, driver's door)
Thank you

Handles only partially chromed!
Taking a better look, mine are only partially chromed, just on the upper third, so there is a paint line across just at the top of the lock button. Kind of looks like the whole handle was chromed then they went back and painted it. Me being tall (so always looking down on the handle) and the car being silver and in storage for a long while, I didn't notice that they weren't fully chromed.
