A sad day indeed...need some help pricing my 2006 E55
Well to say I am heart-broken would be an understatement. Those that know me understand how much I love this car - it has been a very passionate project (obsession) maintaining, modding and detailing my beast. She has been the finest car I have ever owned!
Unfortunately my life has been self-destructing lately. I don't want to bore you guys with the sad details, but let's just say I do not advise working with your wife - EVER.![smash](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smashfreak.gif)

So I need help figuring the best way to sell her. I am reluctant to sell as-is to a private party, simply because you never get what you want. Even if I find an enthusiast that appreciates all the mods and time I have into her, I believe I will still get low-balled. We all know you never get the mod money back when you sell, so why try?
My initial thought was to take the few mods off I can easily remove and just trade her in on something more affordable. While I expect and understand that I am going to lose a lot of money, no matter what I do, I would like to minimize that as much as possible.
Any suggestions?
Anybody have recent auction pricing on a 06 with 54K miles (keyless, nav, dynamic seats, hid's, trunk closer, ECT)?
Just trying to gather a little info to be better prepared for when I walk into a dealer,
Any input would be greatly appreciated...THANKS!

Probably the RennTech 178 pulley, heat exchanger, split cooling circuit, hid fogs, euro side markers, velocity booster (adj sprint booster), RennTech elm and the 19" forged VIP rims.
Doesn't make much sense to remove the headers or the lsd. And unfortunately I can't sell the tune..lol.
Might also consider selling all the newly painted engine parts, but of course I would need cores.

I don't have the words, Brian. I can only hope you guys get it worked out. The car , IMO, is inconseqeuntial. There's bigger things here.
That said, if you decide to get rid of the car, someone is getting a beauty. I wish you the best.

Finance cars sell well, a private sale at auction would probally barely hit $25000.

She was the first to go, I have my priorities straight!
Thanks guys, but now I am even more confused about what a fair trade in price would be...lol.
Seriously though, this has been really difficult...and yes the car is meaningless in the big picture. My wife and I have been building our marriage and our business (restaurant) together for nearly six years. It has been extremely hard to walk away from that. I put my heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears into both, thinking that we were building a partnership. Sad to find out that simply was not true.
In the end, this will be for the best. In the meantime, it is really going to suck...and driving a Toyota Solara (or the like) will be the least of my problems.
I will post up a for sale thread fpr the parts once I have a more clear timeline!

Not sure what you are looking at but there has not been one over $26000.

A realistic trade in price would e $22-24k. A realistic private sale would be 25-28k. Don't waste your time, price it right and get rid of it.

Definitely know you could ditch some of those parts pretty fast. I know the pulley and ELM would go really fast.
Would be a few extra K at least, but there is the shop charges to remove and then dealing with the sale of stuff (sounds like you don't have a lot of time for this kinda stuff)
I can tell ya one thing brotha, stay plugged into us over here. You are ALWAYS family here no matter what car you drive. When I went through the worst times of my life back in 2005 (nearly lost wife due to health), these knuckleheads were about the only thing that kept me sane.
You hang tough and know that "this too will pass".

Sorry to hear about your situation. Good luck with it all (not so much the car, that's really nothing in the end.)
I have a couple of cars I'm thinking of selling including my E63 (I have another car on order now.) But the market is not good.
My suggestion would be to:
1) sell retail since the dealers are in the same economic picture, and right now aren't paying anything
2) or just garage it and wait until spring (this is the worst time of year to sell)
I've had two brokers interested in one of my cars (more of a collectible) and neither of them followed through. They're still hurting in this economy and don't have the cash like they used to. I gave up on them; a waste of my time.
Good luck, but don't rush it. Somebody will come along and pay a decent price. Buyers are out there, it just takes more time these days to find them.

sorry to hear that buddy. best way to get the most money is to put it back to stock and sell off any mods privately. that is hands done the best and only way to re-coupe any sort of mod money.

Damn man bad situation. At least you know your car will never treat you like that
Anyways, probably high 20's at trade-in would be good, but I think they will try to low ball you in the mid 20's. Hope you get top dollar and able to get back on your feet relatively quickly!

Then that guy you were standing next to just bought himself right out of the market. After auction fees, clean up and whatever else, he is about to loose money. Unless that AMG had 15000 miles. We are talking about a 50k car here with no warranty that he is taking to a dealer to trade. It will be lucky to get $26000. Of course they will move money from the car being bought and show it towards the AMG making it look like you are actually getting more. The real number on the car trade in is $24 to $25.

This summer I was offered $29K on trade in from a FORD dealer when I was considering the new 5.0 mustang, so the prices should not have dropped that much since then should they?
