Anyone ever go from E63 to an E55...voluntarily?

If budget allow E63 is a better car but maybe not better engine.
Overall, E63 is a better car but if you want a 10 sec car then might be E55K
You can find 06 with $26K 50K miles + $10K modding = $36K you might get a 10 sec AMG !!!

Yada yada yada.
Arguing about one's subjective tastes on the e63 vs. e55 issue is like asking whether one likes Coke or Pepsi better. Everyone has a preference, but at the end of the day, its pretty much the same damn thing.
And, dont worry, we wont tease you for driving a car that looks dated.![poke](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/stickpoke.gif)
Having moved from the BMW family, we're all better off than those guys.

E55 all the way, you change a 250 dollar trunk and do the front end and you have the looks of the 63. its not that simple to make a 63 run like a 55. I drove a 63 and i couldnt wait to get back in the 55. The 63 felt like a E46 M3

Days like today make the decision difficult, because it is all of 16 degrees outside today, and I was just on the highway (having a crappy morning at work) and decided to punch the gas to relieve some stress and....ROAR!! The engine screamed to life, sucking in all of the cold chilled air that it could, and pushed me back in the seat with a fair amount of force. That sounds....oh, that sound. Pure naturally aspirated power. A smile on my face for sure.

Lawguy, watsup with you bashing the 55? I remember receiving PMs from you like a month ago helping you decide between the 55 and 63. So you paid more for the looks and a newer underperforming car. Much more.
I love the e63. Always did always will. It's just that us 55 guys are disappointed with the modding aspect of the N/A engine. We love the looks.
If I had several cars and could pick a 997tt to go have fun in, I'd have a 63. But as the 55 is my daily, I'd take it anyday over the 63 just to be able to pull on pretty much anything

If I can add my .02 cents as a E63 driver, the E55 is a brutal beast. The torque is impressive, and the car can be easily modded on the cheap. The E63 would cost an arm and leg to mod for equal hp and torque. The E63 is a better designed engine IMHO, whether its better or not, is up to debate. It doesn't have the issues associated with a SC clutch and intercooler pump. It's all motor all day everyday. I'm not into to modding myself anymore, I had a 03 Mini Cooper S that I modded the hell out of. The engine was so highly stressed if was causing me issues. But ultimately the decision is yours. If money wasn't a concern, I would take the E63, and send it out to Evosport for modding. You would have a car with about 650 HP, after they worked their magic on it.

All I can say is what I posted is fact. Do you think Daimler AG/AMG makes their decisions on motor design to suit redneck Americans who want to mod their cars for the dragstrip? Granted (as I said in my earlier posts) the SC motor is far more fun and very easy to mod. But the reason why they went to twin turbos now has absolutely nothing to do with what you prefer.
You said: "AMG is basically admitting that they made a mistake with the E63 since they are quickly switching back to a turbo-charged version the next go around." Well, that's not true at all. They went to FI motors because of the new CAFE rules. And it's the same reason BMW dropped their NA V8 and V10 motors in favor of new TTs. The day of big displacement NA motors is pretty much over.
Just get your facts right. Daimler AG/AMG will still be using the M159 NA 6.2 dry sump motor in their flagship car. The C and E Class cars are not high end cars. And By putting better economy motors in their higher selling platforms, they can offset CAFE fines. Thomas Weber stated publically this as fact. They have spent $300+ million in fines since 1999.
The new 5.5 TT will be a great motor but they didn't build it to suit your personal modding needs. If you read some of the books on the history of AMG and the current R+D ever since Daimler AG bought it 100%, you'll see what they say about designing the 6.2 NA motor and why they did it. But today is today and the regulations and the economy has produced a totally different atmosphere for auto industry.
And get ready for a non-fossil fuel AMG line whether you like it or not.

Now, if you want to argue "underperforming" because the higher torque of your car makes your hiney feel like its going faster than in mine, cest la vie. But, all in all, they're close enough in performance that there really isnt a difference above personal preference.
I'm sorry if my clearly playful teasing upset you.
