Left license plate light went out, replaced new bulb and still out?

Left license plate light went out, replaced new bulb and still out?
So my left license plate light went out. I got new bulbs and still doesnt work? I tried swapping left to right and they work on the right side but the left is dead? Tried to hook up a test light and nothing on the left but right is fine, is the whole unit dead? If so should I just replace with the JBspeed Led ones?

Got the same issue as you, but my left one flickers and stays on sometimes. It is a pain in the *** and the message in the dash is very annoying!

yeah mine used to flicker and then went completely dead. Gonna have to take off inside cover and check where its dead

i had this as well. you'll likely need a new bulb and socket(?)...or whatever you call the housing that the bulb fits into. not expensive.

left plate light out 2002 320 wagon
Having the same issue left plate light is out. Right side is working well. Tried new bulbs nothing. How much is that housing ? Test light showed no power. Does anyone know were that fuse is? Does it controll both left and right?

Check for broken/pinched wires in the wire loom running down the left side trunk mount. Same thing happened to me.

Have you tried switching the other way around? That usually is the issue people have, it was for me anyways.

I had the same issue, the issue was that the contacts were slightly corroded so it would flicker. I took some paper on the end of my flat head screw driver and cleaned them. Works perfect now.

Having the same issue with the 09 C63 I just bought. If I tap on the left light it lights so something to do with the connection close to the end. Glad I found this. Not glad that the assembly is hard to get to!
