Very true, I usually replace my cars every 12-18 months and I can't think of anything that I would replace the beast with.

Thanks guys, the car was located at a Toyota dealership in Georgia right outside of Atlanta. The drive there and back could best be described as miserable , misted rain the entire time, you know the type where its just enough where you can't see but not enough to keep the windshield wipers from making that annoying thu thu thu thu sound with every swipe? Initially I had planned to fly out with a buddy and look the car over then either drive it home or catch a flight back depending on the condition of it but the flights from Jackson to Atlanta were multiple connections taking up to 8 hours or outrageously expensive so we decided to rent a car and just drive out there. That brings me to the Cobalt, sigh.

About 7:30 we pick up the rental and about five minutes into the drive I start looking for the cruise control .......... feeling a bit ignorant when I can't locate it ........ then the very sobering and ugly truth hits me, it HAS NO CRUISE! We quickly took our frustrations out on the Cobalt with a few e-brake pulls and some spins in the highway, immediately we felt redeemed and continued on. Lesson learned, never rent a car in a rushed mood, no sat radio, no cruise control makes for a very long 6 hour drive of flipping stations and a worn out right foot.

We arrived at the dealership about 2pm and the car did look like it was in very good condition for the year and miles, not a single ding or dent and only two very very small rock chips on the hood that I will be taking care of with some touch then possible a clear bra. It has dynamic seating, vented and heated seats, nav , but no keyless go or pano roof. After careful inspection the brakes appeared to be 50% or so , tires were new on the rear, and 30% or so on the front. Only real issue found was a very small amount of seepage from the valve covers , after speaking with the GSM I feel I negotiated a fair discount for that issue and everything else was very smooth.

MY ride home was far better than my poor buddy who had to pilot the Cobalt another six hours home in the misting rain and terrible radio selection. Luckily we had time to make a pit stop in Birmingham, AL for my favorite Mexican food on the planet, Superior Grill. All was made right with plenty of salsa, queso , and fajitas along with a celebratory beer.

I do have a few questions, first being the color and where on the vehicle I can locate the color code? I am getting a "cornering headlight" malfunction here and there but a quick reset by turning the wheel lock to lock a few times clears it , anyone have an idea of what that might be?

Great report, thanks for posting. Color code is under the hood if my memory's correct.

E55, Supercharged Z4 (sold)
It looks like you have Tective Gray. Best color IMO. I get to stare at it everyday Open the driver side door and at the bottom of the B pillar you should see the color code on the bottom right hand side of the sticker. Mine says C753. From what I understand the C stands for the ceramic clear coat which is really hard (a good thing).

Yeah, you're right. Looks like Tectite. Don't know if Flint was even available then on E55s (?)

Tectite, Flint. All the grays are the fastest and the bestest.

Those are probably vent cover gaskets leaking and are commonest on the 55 motors and very cheap to fix. My mech does them for 150.

2013 E63 Performance Package
If the brakes are only 50%, then you need to put on some Akebono brakes. This is by far the best mod I ever did. No squeeking, and 1 1/2 weeks after a wash, the wheels still look great.

Edit - Really, it is the only mod on my car, but it is great.

no offense but i used to see people like you all the time, either they make an economy car reservation and get pissed for no cruise, come in and say i want the cheapest car and get pissed or they come in and say, well i booked an intermediate, its TWO sizes up from an economy car. lol. ah i dont miss those days at all. NEVER book anything under a standard or full size!

but congrats on the car. there is a nice 04 e55 at my local dealer. they are asking $26 but its had four owners. the last guy only had it for a month. that scares me. unless they come way down, ill keep looking
