CLK 55 AMG
Which One

HI.

I know all of you here own E class cars but my question is this.

I'm about to palce an order on an E 55 but I also like the new CLK 55. I like E 55 more and I think it's better but the CLK 55 comes as an convertilbe and that is what makes me think.

SInce you own E class cars what are the differences between the two cars.

Any opinions are welcome.

Thanks

You're best bet is to test drive the CLK and the E class. Sure you might not be able to test drive the AMG models....but test the E500 vs. the CLK500. That should be the only way you will know, not by listening to what other people have to say. No offense to anyone, but what I like in a car might not be what you like in a car. The main reason I chose the E55 over the CLK55 is the horsepower and the dual exhaust and overall exterior appearance of the E. I still haven't test driven either one yet....but I will (E500 + CLK500). And only then will I know if I made the right choice. Go with your gut on the test drive!!!!
I hope this helps

If you want 2 more doors, a little more room in the back seats, and a hundred more horsepower for the extra 10 grand or so, go for the E55.

A test drive of either 500 won't be the same because of the stiffer AMG suspension and the interior and exterior styling is up to you. If you pick the CLK 55, then decide on the coupe or cab.

I hope you don't have to wait too long for a car.

One important point when you consider value and quality issues: the CLK is based on the C class and, well, the E class is built with a different buyer demographic in mind for lack of a better way to put it.
The old W208 CLK was a true hybrid of the E and C classes in many ways. The new CLK is forged from the C.

Also, the horsepower difference between the CLK55 and E55 is huge.

But...there is no E cabriolet.

My two cents: Depends on where you live. I'm in the midwest and have a CLK 430 cab. Don't really get to put the top down that much and when I do its often on the highway so that takes some of the fun out of it. Also, my car has far more squeaks and rattles that I would have ever expected from a MB -- I attribute that to the fact that there is less structural rigidity with the cab. In the end, I wasn't really thrilled with the new CLK design and, given that I don't live in Calif., I decided to go with the E55. If I lived somewhere like Fla., Calif, Ariz., etc. I might have gone a different way. Either way you can't go wrong. SL55 pretty nice too.

WOW making a choice btwn the new E55 and CLK55 will hard? If i'm in that road, i'll be honest it's the tough decision. Cause i like clk for better model but E55 has more HP and fast. Gud luck on your choice but whichever you choose, i'm sure its the best. Once you make up your mind.. let us know thx

CLK55, Mini S
Get the E55 -- faster, bigger, yet handles just as well, and will hold resale value much, much better.

The CLK55 is build on the C-class frame. And it will be further degraded when the all new E-coupe comes out in a year or so...according to several sources.

Love the new CLK55 despite the fact that it looks like an Acura CL.

So if you have any doubts, get the E55. You will be glad you did.

Well My first choice is the SL 55 but the only thing that's holding me back from it is the reason that it's a 2 seater. On emore thing about is that is costs about 250K USD dollars here in Australia and the E 55 is about 140K USD dollars and you get the 4-5 seater full luxury car with the same performance and so. I love the SL 55 the most especially the look of it the sport good look of it but it's a 2 seater. I could give that much for it but then I would have to get anohter car with 4 seats or so. BUt with the E55 I get all the same things except the look which I will miss the most if I go for E 55 over SL 55 but I will have 110K USD more on my bank account. SO everything so far is leaning towards the E55.

AS for now E55 then maybe in some time to come if the new SL 65 comes out try that one and still have the E 55 in my garage.

Thanks for all your replies.
