Sticker and Nav update

Dealer called today. First, he faxed me my sticker. It is as follows:

Also, he said that he got a letter stating that nav is now available but that those who have the retrofit issue are first in line (I assume that means if they choose the "new car" option -- see posts in the E forum detailing that nightmare) so that it would likely delay the build date by a few months. Given that, I passed on the nav and will undoubtedly regret it but don't want to wait for my car. Btw its an 03 MY.

Thanks for the info, but does it mean that 03 E55 w/o Nav is able to get Nav retrofit when it become available? (since 03 E55 would be built after Nav probelms resolved?)

They have made it clear that there will be no retrofit unfortunately.

I can tell you how things over here in Germany seem to work :
E 55's who are equipped with the APS 50 can be retrofitted with the new DVD based COMAND system at the cost difference between both system.
BUT: rumors indicate that dealers are asked by the factory not to tell customers about this retrofit option unless there is a direct enquiry from a customer. Reason: the retrofit is pretty expensive.

In Germany there a lot of E 55 customers who paid the COMAND but got the APS 50 instead until the COMAND is available for retrofit.

I'm not sure it'll work the same way in the US.
