Get the shelby, put a pulley on it, tune it, and you will be at 600rwhp. One of the most badass mustangs ever built. Sure the E63 has the creature comforts, but knowing you are driving an american icon of a car, and if you ever get tired of 600rwhp, get the Kenne Belle 4.0 blower (4 litres of discplacement, LOLL) for around $4K, get ready for close to 800rwhp

I agree, but I don't think we are comparing apples to apples here, that's what I ment with my smart *** remark. Someone could go buy a supra for the same money and have 1200 hp...but it's still not a benz.....

The Mustang is a FUN car to drive. Nothing like zipping around with the manual transmission. The Benzs and BMWs are nice to drive, but don't even come close to driving a Mustang "fun"wise. I still miss driving my Mustang. AMGs are great powerwise and dropping the hammer, but you won't be taking corners and handling like the Mustang.
Even Mustang fans praise the LRA because a solid rear end is much better for a straight line drag car, but they admit it's no good for cornering.
Anyway, I know nothing about Mustangs, so correct me if I'm wrong....

The only two real spankings i've received have been by Two ford Mustangs, a TERMINATOR Cobra with a Whipple Kit And a 1990 GT with a turbo kit..
I have respect for these cars and i see a cobra in my future they are easy and cheap to mod.
It is impressive to go as fast as we can with these AMGs but there's a limit and IMO if one is going to go all out and make a toy track car pretty much like a lot of us have, a SUPERCHARGED Stang is not a bad investment..I will be retiring my car and will start playing with one of those beasts and 9's wouldnt be a problem

Just curious about this part.... don't Mustangs have live rear axles? From what I've heard they are really terrible in the twisties. I'd think a BMW (and a later model E63 with improved steering ratio and suspension) could easily out handle the Mustang

If performance is your only care, then AMG M-B's aren't the best bang for the buck. The only models that to me, are even comparable with the ultimate bang-for-the-buck (Mustang, etc.) are Used W211 E55's. And even then, you're getting needless weight, and gizmo's that drive the cost of running and upkeep up.
AMG's are obviously very performance oriented, but have equal attention in many other departments.
My point being: If going fast is your only care, then dollar for dollar, Mustang >>>> AMG Benz. Be it a beefed up Fox Body, a Terminator Cobra (maybe best bang for the buck in the auto market today), or a new GT500 (even the new GT can give some AMG's a run). I'm not even getting into running-costs and dependability after countless hours of drag strip abuse (or simple maintenance, repairs, etc.) either.
