Exhaust extensions, has anyone done it?

Exhaust extensions, has anyone done it?
So, ever since putting on my rear CF diffuser, I cant stand the tips being half hidden or "tucked in there". I want to pull them out about an inch. A couple places will do it for me although its a major PITA for a 200 ballpark price.
Has anyone on here done it? I want to pull it out just about an inch, just bring the tips out so the amg logo is somewhat visible as well.
Anyone on here done it? Where did you cut the pipes? I already have cutouts so it makes things a tad more complicated, another thing is if you noticed, the tip closer to the outside of the car is on the upside of the muffler.
I'd keep it like it is but it'll always bug me. At the same time I dont wan't to screw up the exhaust and have one side hang lower than the other etc etc. Arghh. I miss how the tips looked with the factory rear but love the CF look as well.

there is about a inch of play in the muffler hangers, so you can cut the exhaust piping before the muffers and push them out, slip a pipe over the cut and weld it.
i have seen it one person do it on his e55 who has the diffuser and doesnot like the recessed tips.
