The "signal converter" (Mercedes paddle converter) is not an OE part.
(see info below)
And ... There are no AMG aluminum paddles that "fit" on it (the E55 wheel or any early AMG55 wheel for that matter), the wheel has to be modified to accept the AMG aluminum paddles ... and that is why the DCT motorsports price of $499 for the paddle conversion installed (including all parts required) is such a good deal.
hope that helps,
Chris

Just ordered the flat bottom wheel in cf and leather with the paddle shift upgrade and leather airbag with AMG stamp.
Sent a few extra parts to get the cf treatment as well.
So excited for these upgrades.
Between all this, the new mats, new pillar and leathrique treatment my interior will feel so refreshed

Anyone considering this - don't second guess it! DCT makes a awesome steering wheel. (by far better than a factory wheel) And you'll enjoy it everytime you drive your car.

the best
I have Ivan's steering wheels on both 03 nad 04 E55. I agree, this is one of the BEST mods you can do to our cars. Contact Chris and get them paddle shifters installed to complete the picture!

While I have no interest in getting into a he said-she said match over the internet I feel obligated to follow up....
I had heard many great things about DCTS. In fact, before spending $2600 with him I contacted several members here who have done business with him before and they ALL vouched for his integrity.
Unfortunately I did not have a good customer service experience: delay after delay, unanswered emails and voice mails and the matter that he still owes me $250 for a part that I paid to have him make but he was unable to deliver. This was several months ago.
Maybe I'm the exception...or maybe we have another vendor headed south quickly.
Good Luck guys!!

Ivan returned the money he owed me.
I think this is a simple issue of the fact that this guy is busy. That explains, not justifies, the lack of communication.
Just be prepared to be patient as these parts are not made in this country, so much of production and shipping is out of his control.
