60fts get your 60fts!!!

Okay guys what is the best setup to run a decent 60ft and not kill your top end trap?

I was just going over my slips and saw a few 11 second passes with horrible 60fts.

my last time I went I got an 11.8 with a 1.96 60ft

My goal for next season in 11 flat with my setup,I just need to put the power down.

Drag radial. If you go with bias ply like me you will get good 60's but lose top end. I mainly use bias ply only because the sidewalls flex so it doesnt give my driveline the shock of a radial but it seems like that doesn't even help me anymore. Back to breaking axles again

Good 60 fts equal:

small light rim (15"-16" rim max)
widest rim (9-10" across)

I would say the Hoosier Drag radial or ET Streets or maybe even a slick 295-50-15 or there abouts would be sick. Lots of side wall for wrinkling and dead hooking. Big time burnouts are key

Get some DRs that are slightly shorter than stock tires. That way you will finish your run at the top of third gear. Also with being shorter they will help with acceleration.

Shorter tires will indeed help with acceleration and 60 fts. If stock finishes the quarter right before the 3-4 shift, though, I don't understand how shorter would finish at the top of 3rd - that doesn't make sense to me. If you wanted to finish the quarter at the top of third, I'd expect you'd want a slightly taller wheel/tire setup...

A Smaller diameter or height tire Will get you more Revolutions hence increasing your gearing .which you would rev out quicker i figure too .

Wow, didn't know that - thanks. That's with a stock ratio wheel/tire setup, I presume?

Yes - that was my point. Increasing your gearing doesn't usually lead to fewer shifts over a fixed distance. Scratch explained it - sounds like stock-ratio tire'd E55's finish the quarter leaving some of 3rd on the table. I didn't know that.

That was with the 265/45/18 drag radials, with stock tires I think its 130 or 129.

I have the numbers somewhere and this is going off my head,it might be 132 with stock tires also.

But yeah we have long *** gearing lol

Dirt Scooters
Theres alot more to getting a good 60' time than just the tires alone. More times than not it comes down to track prep. I've cut some crazy times on street tires that i couldnt cut on drag radials or even slicks with bad track prep.

I did 1.65 60' with the following combo

16" E320 wheels, small 5mm spacers to clear brake
255/50/16 Mickey Drag radials

I then sold my drag combo to Luis (Loco 55 and he's gotten great times with this setup and painted tehm black). E320 wheels are cheap and readily available on Ebay and Craigslist. Another option is to use the 16" CLK steely.

I thought somebody on this board cut 1.3x once .

I personally like to race my car the way I drive it, so only street tires. But this year I'll get some DR and see what happen.

Absolutely.

18" Drag Radials are for street use hehe. Best I did on my 18" DRs was a 1.72, and that was like a one-of lucky launch most were higher.

on my 16"s i would literally floor it right off the line and let the drag tires do their job.

I have the 16inch ccw rear drag package with MT ET streets and 1.6's are absolutely no problem at all for me.
