Not an E55, but relative.

I have a 2004 E55 and hear TONS of discussion on here about lowering our cars. Do we get an ELM, Star method, links or even washers. Well gentlemen, a 2008 CLS550 came through service today that has the bolt back-off of the RF link.. LF was soon to follow, as you can see the play that is in the bolt.

I can't speak much for links, as I have even considered these myself, however have ALWAYS been skeptical on washers. I mean c'mon .80 cents on our $80k cars??? CAN NOT BE PROMISING.

There is always a result of doing something the cheap way. I always thought it was the dumbest thing I had ever heard.

Loctite works very well. But I do have RT ELM thought.

I've always thought someone working on their car and not knowing how to use loctite was the dumbest thing I'd ever heard.

Since you didn't specify, I must ask:

Were there even washers on the car, or are you just saying that the car came in dumped because the sensor dropped as a result of the bolt backing out?

I'm not dropped yet because I've been having warranty work done recently, but I'll be star dropped in the near future. If it's not low enough for my tastes, I don't know what I'll do.

I've changed suspensions out on 2 porsches, a Z, an RX-8, and an Audi. Each time I used loctite. Why would a Mercedes be any different when modifying the suspension? Why would loctite be any less effective Emoving?

Personally.... I feel like 8 or 9 hundred or whatever amount people are paying to lower these cars is just ridiculous. Money to burn.

Drill original bolt out and put a longer one in. Leaves you plenty of room for more washers to go as low as desired and still get the nut on with threads to spare. And yes, loctite.

The car DOES in fact have washers. The rear link has been hacked up also. I didn't realize how tucked away that rear link is until I actually got under one.. Install must be tuck for rear links..

It's really hidden. It's in the middle of the car and there's only one. You probably have to have the car on the rack to get access to it.

links are only $299 honestly they've been the best mod on my car so far. once I finish up my race car ill be saving up for a set of 19" CCW's.
