2003 porsche 996 turbo
cant speak for the 18" but my 16" clk rims have a 255/50 mounted on a 7" rim so you can do at least that prolly a 275 .
whats the weight of the rim? if its 25 lbs or so you arent really saving anything are you? that would be around 50 lbs with dr vs mine at 37lbs. 13lbs rotational weight savings

I found a chart on MTs site that may prove helpful for you. Click the url below. FWIW I ran the ET Streets last year and cut some amazing times stock. 1.81 best 60' and a 12.21 @113.9 . Love those tires and will be buying another set this year.
Looks like the 3780R will work for that width. Its a 245/40/18.

I think the tire would be fine, but I agree a wider wheel would probably be best. The 245 may not have as large a contact patch as the 265 but it will be lighter (less rotational mass), and shorter in height, which could get you better performance near the end of the run. Like I said I ran 265s last year cause I got a smokin deal on em, so unless that happens again, I will be going 245 this year. Also, aesthetically the 265s are just a little too tall and the car looked too high in the back, which I didn't like. It's important too look good as well as be fast ya know

a 245 should be fine, this guy is running very low 11's with them in a cl65 and prob well over 600 tq.
