I didn't even know this was going on over in the CLS forum until I got a news story about it.

I love this guys guts!! He hooked the 5.5 up to the factory CLS500 7 Speeed Tranny. She is throwing ESP errors and his power steering doesn't work but SHE WORKS!!!

Gosh I wish we could run it in the 1/4 just ONE TIME before he yanks it. He is gonna go with the 5 speed slusher to get full function back.

I definitely like big projects like this, but since the 7-speed can only handle a fraction of the torque of the 5-speed, I would've thought it'd be a lot more beneficial for him to stick with the 5-speed.

I had a customer that did this about a year ago over in Eastern Europe. The transmission lasted for a very short time. He switched over to the 722.6 running standalone trans controller.

He has a CLS550 to start with. He than put a kleeman sc kit on. And not he finally do the 55k swap.

It almost seems like the 63 guys should be trying to install the 5-speed in their cars especially if they're running nitrous or a supercharger kit.... which a few C63 owners are after nowadays

If it was me, I'll just wait to see what's up with the new TT drive train. May be just trade up for the new model. If not, may be just the tranny. I know the 5speed trannies are stout, but they can be better.

Because the car was already a successful show car.
Competitive in national audio comps as well.

He had all the mods done before he decided to swap. If you ask him if he had it to do all over....yes he would have started with the AMG.

^This. Khelawanb is a pretty cool guy(know him through the forum). One thing that I value most about his car besides the tasteful exterior mods is that in spite of having the motor now, I still don't see him rocking an AMG badge. wish the fake E55 that parks next to mine during the week would realize this...Dude even has the kompressor badges as well and that is by no means a show car e55.

Yup we are friends. He's a really cool guy. And the guy Jake that did the engine work is the friggin man when it comes to MB work. He has a 55k in his C43 and he will be out to shatter records this year hopefully
