Yeah, if I had an ELM I'd tell you more, but I'm set on STAR because it's essentially free. Washers work well too so long as you're willing to do them right [i.e. loctite + check them every few thousand miles] The washers aren't on a weight bearing bolt as it is.

Why not just try washers in the front, see if they give you the look you want, can always reverse them with no detriment. At the very least it will satisfy you in the short term whilst either saving for the $9000 ELM or finding someone with a STAR unit.

How the hell did you do that with washers? Did you buy longer bolts?

Lowering the car is the easy part, getting a proper alignment after lowering was all but impossible.

Links are the way to go and it does not deteriorate ride quality. It all depends on how low you set it. Mine is slammed and in comfort mode she rides as smooth as a baby's bottom.

The end result all look the same and ride the same it is just the method used to get there that is different. ELM is the best way to go, there is no way around that. It just alos happens to be the most expensive which is why people end up using 2 cent washers on a 100k car.

I could not find a shop who could get the car within MB spec after the car was lowered about an inch all the way around. Could have easily been two incompetent shops - I don't know specifics on the problem.

Same with my shops here but they are close enough that I have no uneven wear or cupping. That goes for my past 2 E55s as well.
