What I don't get about some of these threads is that tunning isn't some black art that only the chosen by god can perform. The same tools are generally used by all tuners, wether EVC, Dimmsport, byteshooter, etc. Those tools allow for a decompiling of the Hex code into relevant maps, and allow the tuner to change values graphically or numberically the in the corresponding data cells. The hex gets updated and the new file is applied to the ECU-Bamn your tuned. Tuning concepts for power are all the same, for every engine in the world.
1. Remove torque management.
2. Adjust AF to ideal depending upon FI or NA
3. Run as much timing as you can before knock( detonation ) occurs
No Spooky Stuff there. These threads don't need to turn into who's laptop is touched by Gods ****. Both tuners are proven to make power. BOTH TUNERS HAVE HAD A BLOWN engine along the way, but frankly the number is statiscally insignificant, and CANNOT SOLEY BE ATTRIBUTED TO THE TUNE. I'd say it comes down to customer service, cost, and personal preference. Can't we all get along.

Both tunes have been rock solid. As soon as the full exhaust system comes from Floorfabbed (headers on back to stock mufflers), I'll ask Jerry to do a Stage 3 tune.
I am only stating my personal experience with him as was asked in the initial post. I drive more miles every day to and from work than anyone on this board (100 daily, every day) in my E55 so I think this is a testiment to his tune and the reliability I've experienced with it.
Not saying another tuner is worse, just recounting my personal experience with Jerry.

I got a Stage 1 tune from Jerry about a month or two after I bought the car which was totally stock. From there I modded it and got my 180mm pulley on a few months ago with a Stage 2 retune directly afterwards.

I've had a Jerry tune for 1.5 years now with over 20K miles on it during that time. I drive 100 miles to and from work daily, in traffic, in Phoenix where the temps are high. I've had both Stage 1 and recently went with stage 2 retune when I added my pulley (see sig) and have been very, very happy with it. I've never had an issue and would recommend them to anyone.
I am not throwing stones at any other tuner just reflecting my personal experience with Jerry and his very responsive and excellent customer service.
As soon as I get my headers on, I'll ask him to tune the car again!
Thanks.
PS. E-moving go with Chipolte!

Go with OE Tuning, Everyone who has the OE tune was beyond satisfied, including me. Im not trying to be biased here, but from what I have researched OE Tunning puts out the most power.
I have heard Horror stories with the Eurocharged tune, like a couple of blown E55 engines.

Ultimately it's always a risk in tuning or modifying engines, however small it's still your choice to introduce that risk. Engines are complex systems. Bad gas, stuck Bypass valve, Fuel pump variations, Static injectors etc can all easily take an engine out if the right combination of circumstances happen.
I mean some of us are running upwards of 150hp and 200tq more than the factory designed these engines for. For some reason there still seems to be a culture here of it's all in the tune. It's a system folks! You need all the parts to make big power safely. I personally think anybody running stock injectors is asking for trouble and should not be blaming anybody but themselves if the motor blows. I don't care what the wideband says on your stock injectors. Simple math puts them at near static operation at high RPM.
Despite that we have it pretty good. These engines are VERY STOUT. Look at the subaru platform. I would say 30-40% of subies with tuning or upgraded turbos have blown their engines. I beleive when Nuclear war hits, only cockaroaches and AMG Engines will survive!
All that said there are far too many people willing to open their wallets before using their heads. Educate yourself on engine tuning basics. Think logically about how to acheive your goals while minimizing your risk. Talk to your tuner and ask questions to help you make a decision, and then remember it was your decision to start down this crazy, addicting, exciting, and sometimes frustrating path to horsepower heaven.

FWIW there has been and OE tuned 55 with a blown motors too. There have been stock motors with blown engines. 03's have notorious ring land issues. I think people should not focus on whether there was a blown motor in less than a 10th of 1% of all tuned cars. While ****ty for the person it happens to, but cannot be attributed to tune alone in these cases.

Scratch, we have all heard what happen to you and it sucks, but I think that you should have went about it another way, maybe you did try to call jerry, maybe you didnt, maybe he was drunk at the time, who knows, but you know jerry will do anything he can to make it as right as possible for you... As far as the fan base is, he has just done really well with me and some friends so I try to support him as much as possible and I am just one of the many. He tunes thousands of cars, and takes his work seriously. I thought you guys worked it out anyways?

Despite all the drawbacks ec still has a whole bunch of satisfied customers :-) me being one of them. Keep up the good work. People who feel oetuning is the best I respect their decision and wish them nothing bit the best in the furture.
To the few who have blown their motors and continue to post about it , I cannot symphatize more with you all. Hopefully you have better luck this time.
