It seems the tuning world is very cut-throat. Every time a thread like this comes up, it turns ugly. Surprisingly, the feuds we have are tame compared to other tuners of other makes. They get downright brutal, even so far as to exhibit (what I suspect is) slanderous behavior.

Bottom line- Do your research, buy what you want.

People always want to back the **** they have in the fight, regardless of anything else. It is that team/fan mentality. You think anyone really wants to like the "Cleveland Browns"?????

I would go with OE tuning, my cars bone stock with a custom tune and has pulled on Eurocharge tune with mods.

i would say the quaife LSD you have that most others dont is a big factor in a 500whp sedan's abaility to get a good launch and break 11sec...

looking at dragtimes.com all the top 4 times have 2 things in common - quaife LSD and MT's on 16inch wheels

Not really true...Quaiffe wasnt the factor in my car, in fact i used to pull low 11s without it. My car still has to go on Dyno mode to be able to spin both tires on a burn out and still the ECU takes over when in some cars is just hit ESP and go.

Luis look at it this way, your car may except mods better than others. When you compare your mods vs Alans when he ran 10.77 he had the rear reservoir & RT airbox with FF LT's & OE Tuned & he was only .07 quicker than you.
So it may be your car was a freak to start with and only got freaky-er combined with you a really good driver and there you have it. just a thought... hell look at Bramage with his mods 11.4x & that's with what (pulley + tune & DR's) Bramage correct me if I'm wrong.

+1 plus perhaps Alan ran a bit more aggressive with the 100 octane tune. Logs show My tune was a very conservative 93 as well, remember i was coming off a blown engine and i doubt Jeremy was willing to take a chance with my car..

All cars are different, I expect your car to be the fastest modded e55 buuuuuuut who knows man its all gotta click

People have to realize that mods do not necessarily 'stack' in terms of HP/TQ. It is the 'balance' of the entire package and a tune that brings harmony to any otherwise random mix of anticipation and hope.

I am waiting for my EC dyno tune, but cannot bad mouth OE as I have no real dyno experience with him other than to say my communication so far has been pleasant.

Loco 05 E55's run below is testimate to a balanced package and should be given props for a job well done. Does not go over the top in terms of mods, but all the threads,etc on all of the forums mean little until there is a track time in the signature......

Same here about the Quaife. Only difference is that I can still burn out no problem by turning off ESP with slicks. I wonder what's different??? At the drag strip though, I'll just usually run on dyno mode so ESP doesn't have ANY chance of kickin in.

I would beg to differ. Before I grenaded my stock diff at the track, I had NO problem laying down consistent 1.6's all day with my slicks. Maybe it was the tire setup...

Then I switched to the Quaife and in no way did it cut .5 sec off. I wish it did! I would have the quickest E55 and I would have done it on a straight pump tune too!

that''s the point... lots of e55s pull low 11s on dragtimes w/o LSD but no one has gone under 10.95 without A LSD, so that seems to be 100% statistical correlation that no LSD= no sub 10.95 time

Hard to take statistics into consideration in this case man..There are cars out there with the diff and i doubt they shaved half a sec @ the quarter. In fact i ran a car with more mods than i had (Bigger TB at the time) and different tune, but he had quaiffe and ran the same times with the same 60s..

I hope you are not telling me one can go from 11.3 to 10.80 by adding quaiffe

But wont hurt to try right?

no the 1/2 sec was more of a joke but more traction certainly wont hurt and the .3 sec on 0-60mph has been verified by the press. so that is an advantage

and like others have said you just may have a strong factory car and the ones u ran with the larger TB and such could have weak car, high mileage, clogged fuel lines, bad driver.... basically endless variables that make saying "its the tune, proof in sig.." kinda silly

you could easily says its cuz your car is silver and silver's are the fastest because the guys that built the silver cars were the better AMG builders than the other colors

fact still remains the top 4 cars all have traction improvements in common with all else being different

I raced a CL55 this weekend and put car length on him first run from dig cuz i got a good hook... next run, i spun for just a moment and he got me by a car length..... going fast in these cars is all about the launch and tuners dont provide launch control that i know of so i dont think its just the tune

irregardless though i think you car is fast and congrats to you... but i just think you are selling yourself a little short in the time you put down and giving too much credit to a tuner...

put my grandma in your car and she isnt going to go under 14 sec in the 1/4
