Worth the wait, engine covers look great. Did you do the paint yourself or purchase? What's entailed? How tough is this as a DIY job?

Thanks.
Did it myself. It was fairly straight forward....really all about the prep. Also I use caliper paint for the metal bits, it has ceramic in it and gets very hard when dry.

is there a particular reason why you didn't powdercoat it all? i can see the handpainted sc, but wouldnt powder look better as far as shine gos? or did you want the flatter matte finish? either way, its dead sexy!

Thanks Buddy-

The Vazha- Make sure you get the DEI Titanium with LR Technology, most advanced wrap for insulating temps: Here is the direct link, and get the 50FT, so you can wrap it nice and thick with plenty of over lap on each tube-

Actually there are several reasons I didn't get them powder coating.
1) Cost. The ceramic paint was under $20. PC would have cost at least 5 times that in my area. Bonehead performance would have been cheaper, but there in PA so I would have had to ship them....which leads me to my next reason
2) Down time. Most coaters require a few days to turn around and i didnt want to be without my ride! I disassembled everything and painted it in an afternoon. Let it dry over night and was back on the road at 10am the next day.
3) Powder coating can also chip. I have had many parts powder coated previous cars and while it looks great on smooth metal like intakes and intercooler tubing, on cast parts there really wasn't much difference in look and durability versus the DIY ceramic paint. Now, if its cast I just use the caliper paint. Nothing worse than taking the time, money and labor to get something powder coated, then chip it up the first time you remove it.

Everything has held up very well. The SC, which i used a two part "caliper paint" is rock solid...it just drank the paint right up and cured hard as nails. That is actually my favorite part because it was always so dull and dirty.

With the plastic parts you just have to be careful. Correct prep and paint procedure will help a lot, but those plastic covers are still going to scratch up if your not careful. Just ask anyone who has a front grill painted black...lol.

This is for the hood, where the hood ornament is. Not sure if they have one for the engine cover. Would like to know myself where he got this.

No, these are indeed to replace the trunk star, same size as one under hood on cover.

No they are not, the ones you linked are 4.5 cm, which is no where near big enough to fit. I just bought one of the ones you linked, and put it on my hood.
