My 2004 55 is stored for more than 6 months every year, rarely driven in rain and never in snow or on salted roads (just 35k miles to date). I have a permanently installed battery tender/maintainer which I plug in if the car is going to sit more than a week. The aux battery is still the original and main battery (Interstate) was new in April 2005. I plan to replace both when we return to Germany in July, as I do not want to tempt the gods. If you have to replace the battery, look into Optima Batteries. They are badass looking and come in a variety of voltages. When mine needs replacing that is what I will go with.
