VISIT WORKSHOP
Gents,
I got the red VISIT WORKSHOP warning with a picture of a battery. I understand that it could be the aux battery. The one that's in there is original so I'd like to troubleshoot the warning by replacing it. Anyone got a source that's not going to want the blood from my veins?
Anyone got some DIY instructions, I've never replaced the AUX one...
Thanks!!

Does the car start fine? How's the main battery? Check your belts and worse case scenario it could be the alternator, atleast that's what it was on my friends car when the battery message came on.

His wife crazy
The 14-BS AGM is the battery you need. I just replace mine at a total cost of $103. including the charger that I bought. Follow the instructions on filling the battery with acid, let it sit for 30 minutes, put the caps on and charge for 2 hours.

I like your style. Currently searching for the nearest Walmart in 90210...
Thanks X2, I think $29 at Walmart for a plug n play sounds like a good deal!

I have the same exact workshop message right now.. The car has been in storage for 2 months, so it wont get fixed till the end of winter.. Let me know what you did to clear the message..

put the car in service mode and read the voltages running and not running. should be 12.3+ not running and 14.0+ running. or even take it to autozone and pull the codes and test the alt, free i think for both too

After getting the same message, ignoring it a few days caused my accessories to shut down. No A/C and no COMAND, but that wasn't the end. Next day the valet comes up to me and says "Your car won't start." Great.
First I checked the altenator first at AutoZone for free. Tests came back fine. I bought a charger, and set it to "trickle" charge the battery in the trunk near the spare. After a few overnight charges I went a week without any extra care and no battery service indicator. This was over a year ago, but I still ride with the charger and 100' extension cord right above the spare for good measure.

i had this -- I bought 1 battery -- then the next -- then found out the alternator was the culprit--- you may want to use dyno mode and check the alternator before you start switching batteries.... but on the other hand -- the batteries are due anyways -- but its a heartbreaker -- buying a battery and the next day the warning reappears.

where is this aux battery located? I'm guessing i should charge it or get a new one?
Over the weekend i left the headlights/fog lamps on and next day nothing drained the battery completely. Went and got a new battery (group 49)for the one in the trunk $150.

Whatever we're tuning!
You will need to test the amperage output of the alternator. Just because the voltage is reading correctly doesn't mean that the amperage is correct. There is a good chance that even replacing both batteries won't correct this problem for the long term.
If the BCM in the trunk got wet or shows any sign of corrosion on the plug or harness could also cause this issue.
Process of elimination but check the amp output of the alternator before replacing anything!

Just checked the main battery and the alternator, both check out fine. The 14-BS is $65 at AutoZone and you have to fill it with acid and go through the process. I'm not down.
Can anyone post a link to a supplier that has the battery plug n play mode? Also, please post DIY. I tried to locate the battery today and couldn't find it...
Thanks guys!

I got this message not too long ago as well. My car was parked for about 3 weeks or so. At first I was worried but after the car idled for a bit the message went away. So I drove it around for about 30 minutes and parked it. Then I started it up again the next day and no warnings. So now I just make sure I at least drive it once a week during the winter.
