unless you getting the new "63" 5.5TT I would keep the 55K.

On a more educating note, you must not have heard about the 1000whp E55TT that does 6 sec 1/4 miles from Japan...

E55 then E63, now back to an E55
TBAL - To summarize I suppose I would say:

E55:
Pro-
Supercharger whine, low end torque, mod-friendly. Stoplight racer. Dynamic seats available. Cheaper price as they are older, though still great cars.
Neg-
Silver-faced gauges, orion grey headliner, front end not as pointy/aggressive, no cornering fog lights. SBC brakes need to be disabled before opening caliper/messing w pads. Semi-rough gear engagement from tranny or when clutch pack engages.

E63:
Pro-
Cosmetic upgrades, not only front bumper but wheels/rear spoiler from factory, diff mirrors & tail-lights, different decklid - almost more importantly, the interior. Wood panel shifter surround, black-faced gauges, black headliner, better steering wheel, bigger shift paddles... most cars had more options, NEWER. Manual oil dipstick. SMOOTH 7-speed transmission, car drives much smoother/not nearly as jerky or rough as 55 when supercharger engages. If you drive clients around, a 63 is probably better. If you like the raw kick, 55 for sure.
Negative-
I won't list naturally aspirated as a negative because it is personal preference, but the high revving motor is definitely a different driving experience than 55... I don't mind the motor in the least - granted I don't love it but I certainly can't complain about the car (as soo many do here.) There is definitely plenty of low end torque, not only for daily driving but for city racing. Car not really engine mod friendly. You should drive each car differently really, in a different style.

Everybody acts like the two cars are soooo drastically different & I don't really feel that they are. A 63 is just a tweaked AMG e-class, not a newly restyled car! The 63 is definitely more refined & gentlemanly. The 55 more raw/boy-racer (as far as E-classes go that is lol.)
Now I do of course realize a lot of the cosmetic 63 items can be retro-fitted to 55 as well, which helps with my personal concerns.

One thing to add is that the E63 has a different steering ratio and feels more weighted and connected. And the car handles better. Whether that means anything or not is up to the individual. Although neither car can ever be like an E60 M5 in respect to the chassis dynamics.

And as I mentioned before, if you want primarily a daily driver (mine's just my regular grocery getter) a 2009 E63 has the latest COMAND with much better Nav, real VC, media connections, RDS, etc.. They're good all around comfort-mobiles with a well built and well designed NA motor.

Both these cars are heavy and soft and I really don't see them being much more than big comfortable cruisers. Unless you just want a fast stoplight to stoplight car or a potential project drag car (then definitely get the E55.) But still, there are other choices out there besides an AMG tuned E Class Mercedes.

I currently have both, could not have summarized better than the two post above. Red light to red light, 55 any day. Anything else and I'll take the 63. One thing I can add regarding the NA motor is the compression, which is a blast to manipulate. The SC when let off wants to just keep going (good or bad...) where the NA motor can come to a damm near stop w/ downshifts from 100 w/o touching the breaks. And the exhaust note trumps the SC. End of the day both great cars, comes down to budget / CPO / personal preferences.

2004 E55 AMG
I know I purchased my car for relatively cheap, and i'm fairly young, but I have more sense than a lot of newer members on this board. With the maturity level some of them portray, I'm surprised they're not looking for a knock-off body kit for their "'93 hatchy" and posting kills about bolt-on B16s raping Corvettes.
