Beware of member dubxfiv0!!!
This member dubxfiv0 called himself Ryan is a complete *** hole and one M fxxker! I've never felt so naive and stupid in a long time....since the college days. So here's the story:
dubxfiv0 sent me a PM asking to borrow a ball joint separator tool from me after seeing my DIY on removing and installing ball joints and stating that he's living around my area. So I said fine, you can borrow it. So we met and I lent him this $30 tool and he said he'll return it the next day. I didn't write down his driver's license number or asked for a deposit, thinking that who would go thru all the trouble to steal a $30 tool. He's an Asian dude in his early 30s, standing 5'8" and weights ~160 lb. Seems like a decent guy. So I lent him the tool 4 wks ago, and have not heard from him ever since. I've been calling and emailing him for the past wk; he didn't answer his phone (voice mail box is full) and didn't return my emails. I just couldn't believe that I've just met a scum bag. I'm really upset at myself for being so naive and stupid. I guess I've been a professional for too long and have always met the nicest people until now. This is definitely a wake up call for me. There are all kinds of scum bags (in different shapes and forms) in this world.
If I ever see him on the streets again, I'll show him that there's another way in using this tool -- popping out his ***** w/ that ball joint separator and then he can keep that tool.

it sucks that you reach out to help a member and you get the weenie. next time, the most trustworthy guy there is may not get the same help because you are understandably apprehensive.

That sucks that he stole the tool face to face, but I'm sure there is a reasonable explanation, but scratch's story worries me that this guy is an ***..

$30 or $300 either way that was uncalled for. What a douche, so much for helping other members when jerkoffs like this exist. Props to you for helping, as far as his airmatic install goes... karma will prevail

The whole issue here is not about the $30 tool I'd lost or stolen. It's never about the money, otherwise I would have written down his driver's license and asked for a deposit. I think I'm more upset at myself than at this guy -- I let my guard down and let myself be taken advantage of. Look, we teach kids never to trust strangers, but here I'm -- right in the middle of it. I just simply couldn't comprehend that a MB E55 owner would go thru so much trouble to steal a $30 tool. It just simply can't -- and yet it did. Well, maybe something have happened to him, maybe he got hurt and ended in the hospital, and couldn't answer emails or phone calls. OK. I chose to believe that's what happened, so I could feel better. Oh well, lesson has been relearned after all these years.

Sorry to hear about this SZMB! It sucks that anyone would do this, regardless of the vehicle they drive and/or what ethnicity the person is! Hopefully he will see this and come clean, if nothing else, to clear his conscious...
