Do are cars shut off ? I always push the start button to shut it down everytime I park it.I never thought once to just put the car in park and walk away.
Just tap the button real quick and its off.

Sorry to hear about those folks. That's sad.
But I wonder if they wouldn't possibly forget to take the key out of the ignition either (only thing different would be if they had house keys attached to the car key ring.)
When I first started using KG cars I quickly learned that pushing the on/off button was the same as removing a physical key in the ignition. We all learn to remove keys and we all learn to push the button; it's the same quick learning pattern and same reflex. You either put key in ignition and turn it on/off or you push the button and turn it on/off.
p.s., also a good reminder to install CO detectors in the home.

E55 then E63, now back to an E55
the keyless go on Mercedes will keep running until car is turned off or runs out of gas (with no key of course.)
the car could be kept alive for two weeks as long as gas is added & never turned off.
bentley continental's are the same way.
however the new Nissan's will beep after about a min or two, reminding you the key is not present then they will shut off !!

I loan my sister my car but I forgot to give her the key fod..she drove 17 miles before it shut down in the middle of nowhere. she was new in town and it took me 2hr to find her.
I once went to lunch and forgot to turn off the car, came back 2 hr later and found it was still running.
My E63 is so quiet out side during the day that if you're distracted by talking to someone or on the phone that you will forget it still running. I don't understand why they don't make the car shut down if the key fod is out of range.

I am sorry, but I feel nothing at the loss of people who can't understand the need to shut off a car when they park it. How is pushing a button when you stop and park any different than pulling the key out????
This is whats wrong with the world. People take no responsibility for their actions. Yes......this is the manufacturers fault, not the idiots who just stop their car and walk away...Only solution BAN THE KEYLESS GO!
I say BAN THE IDIOTS!

My volvo V50 (no flaming :P ) started having this nasty noise if i stepped out and shut the door with the key in my pocket and engine running. All manufacturers should do something like that.

They can buy the car without keyless go I'm sure, and most of the people are old and I figure it would happen either way because they forget easily.

Very sad indeed. But it seems that personal responsibility is sometimes forgotten.
Funny thing I did after I first got my E63 a few months back, I parked my truck, threw it in Park, opened the door, locked the doors and hopped out, slamming the door. Then I thought to myself, why is my truck still running???? Oh yeah, forgot to turn it off. I'd been so used to not grabbing a key I just didn't. Thankfully my rear sliding window wasn't locked and my skinny buddy could crawl through.

Pushing the button to stop the car is easy but I have frequently left the car running and only realized it when I was unable to lock the doors by pushing the button on the door handle. In the garage well it seems anyone would hear the car running.
This is not such an easy fix because the activation/deactivation of the safety feature is not that easy. Lots of people sit with the car running, if the car turns off every two minutes and has to be restarted, people will ***** about that.
