help please...'05 E55

Hi all, I did some searching on a few forums in the past few days but cant figure this one out.

Earlier this month, I purchased a 2005 E55 with 44k miles (crappy iphone pic included). Apparently, this was BNZUOVR's previous ride. The thing is super clean and has a handful of mods already done (straight pipe, resonator delete, lowered via STAR, rear diffuser, tint ect.) which is great and is what I would have done to it if it was stock. But about 30 min after I took it off the lot, the check engine light came on. I took it to my shop and they ran the codes and stated that it was the O2 sensors that were throwing the codes. They replaced the O2 before the cat first and it ran with no check engine light for about 30-40 miles then it came back on. I took it back in yesterday and they said the O2 after the cat was throwing the code now so I replaced that and drove about 30-40 miles then this morning the light came on again. The car drives fabulous and even my wrench said that it was running perfectly but I cant seem to pinpoint why the light is coming back on. Any ideas? As always your help is greatly appreciated.

Do you have any idea at all what the source of the light could be? I mean the car drives unbelievable with great power, and from what my tech said, the car was modded correctly and it is super clean inside and out. I am just stumped right now as to what the problem could be...I dont think the straight pipe or resonator delete would throw those codes would it?

No, I have that and headers and mine throws no codes. What code is coming up when they run it?

I am not sure off the top of my head what code # was thrown, just that the codes corresponded to the O2 sensors. I have them at home, when I go home for lunch I will take a look and post it up.

Doesn't the car unexpectedly die when the CPS is the culprit?

Mine just failed to start right away on time. It only has 19k on it so I took it straight in. In ran great otherwise. They replaced it and said that is what is was which is also what I heard from a few here. It also set the ck engine light on.

Anyway Salty i drove my car in there without any problems no codes no nothing thats the honest to gods truth everyone on here already knew i had engine issues and i swapped the motor as well as you do when i spoke to you over the phone. After having my unfortunite situations with fluid motor union I purchased a 2nd hand motor. After installing the motor at my shop it then took it to Hoffman Estates mercedes had the ECU reflashed and downloaded with the factory software also had them check the entire car over before i took the car. I was told the car was in perfect running order only thing i had were a few bad coils off the motor installed after i swapped out the coils i had not one issue with the car i even drove the car to Washington IL 2 times on NEW Years eve. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to call or message me.

I don't know if the car have the cats deleted or not, that may be the cause. I had hi-flow cats on my car and the O2 still throw code. I should have had my rear O2 deleted when I had the car tuned. Good luck with your car.

are the primary cats in place?I thnk chawkins just did a res delete and its throwing codes.Maybe its the colder weather and the car is running to lean.

I did a quick search and the egs comes up with one of the code, check the secodary air pump system to see if its working right.

In the summer the car would probably be ok without the secondary air working since its warm out and the cats dont need it.

Just shooting in the dark here, but I know that the factory tune is so friggin precise/picky, it's gotta be looking for those cats/levels in a certain way and not seeing them.

Wish we could get an aftermarket tune back on her.

I just know that when cats get deleted, usually you gotta tune her or it's CEL city.

Lots of stories of guys on here trying to fool the ECU after installing headers and losing time and time again to the ECU of death.

Hope this helps a touch.

Yes this does, thank you very much. This is the next mod I will do in the late spring sometime so it will definitely be tuned up. My wrench said the same thing, that the light could be coming on because of the reflash.
