Where do we go after an E55?

One could always go with the 2012 GTR It puts about 2-3 car lengths on the 2011 GTR 0-60 I'm hearing 11.2@123 with a best 0-60 time of 2.98

Wow I can't believe all the love for the C6 z06, they are very nasty looking though. I'm surprised that no one really likes the 65's. I guess that there is really not a "replacement" for the 55. I think the new motor would be great, but who wants to buy a "first year" motor and pay those prices. Hell, I could probably TT a gallardo for a buck thirty.

Mercedes S55 AMG
The 65's are interesting. First, they have tremendous cache in terms of their name and presence, no doubt about that. AMG and V12, plus huge sticker price when new.
I really do like them, but you must be in the "65" mindset. It's not a sports car like the 911 or Z06, nor is it an aggressive car like the E55 or the M3/C63 types that can go out on a track. It's really more of a highway cruiser, big, heavy, and very fast in a straight line. It is a very drama free experience when you floor one, it just sort of goes. Contrast that to the E55 or SL55, and you get a much more aggressive pull.
To go back to the Z06 - I even drove a 2002 Z06, with the 405hp engine. Even that car was tremendously exciting and pretty fast - in the same ballpark as the E55. Pulled strongly, and sounded mean. The interior was not very impressive, but the driving position and actual driving was fantastically raw. Those are cheap now, too. The 2006+ Z06 with the bigger engine is just very insane. Even the reviewers who tend to bash american cars vs European, agree that it's a hoot to drive.

C218 CLS63TT PP Edition1, W213 E63S
i was thinking the same way.
what should i get after the E55 ????
i setteled for the new CLS63 TT and i booked one. its called Edition 1. with all the options on the list. including P30. i heard it has luanch control. like SLS
i think it is a good replacement. more than i year passed now on the new engine. and by the time it comes. two year have been past by. i should get it on September 2011.
i am not sure if i will sell my E55 or keep it. i may keep it to try between them which is faster just do see where the new CLS63 TT stands on.

Sold my E55 in Dec. Same situation. Can't make up my mind. Driving the Honda Odyssey for now... LOL. Leaning heavy toward a CPO 07+ S65. Also contemplating waiting for an E63 with TT (if it ever happens) or the new 2012 M5. I need 4 doors with kids.

E 63,E55 (gone) E46 ///M ,B5 stage 3 S4 ,E36 ///M , 03 EVO (800 WHP)
I came to this cross road last year, i now own a w212 E63 PP and i will tell u this the car drives like no other mercedes i drove before handles like a M3 and alot of fun but man do i ever miss the torque from my 55 w mods.. . i will be looking to either get a C6 z06 as a toy along with trading in my car for a F10M5 or the 2012 E63
P.S have had alot of friends with all the cars u mentioned.
Vette and Gt-r are great the cls will be the same as your current car with much less room and the Caddy is a P.O.S, fast but you will be lucky if the wheels dont fall off by 30K

One thing I will recommend to most who have the means, test drive a 03/04 twin screw cobra. I am not saying to buy it, just go drive one. You will feel like you have been assaulted by your own car. It will make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. They typically make 620rwhp/580rwtq on 20lbs 93 oct. The traction control is typically turned off by the tuners as it is just over powered. Hopefully Todd edge will chime in about the shear violence those cars exude upon acceleration as he has one.

W215 CL600
I went: 03 E55 --> 06 Z06 --> 03 CL600...loved have the Z06, but the CL600 is the perfect fit between luxury and mind-blowing all-out fast. E55 was a great car, but it was rear ended badly and never was the same after the accident.

That CL65 AMG you posted is badass!!
I LOVE my 04 CL600. I know its not the 65, but still the V12TT. Like said before, the V12TT is not quite as crazy or dramatic feeling as the E55 is. But by no means does it "feel" slow. But I'm not sure I would keep my CL600 over my E55. If the day came where I had to pick between the two, I would most likely keep the E55.....I think.....

It has been three weeks since I moved from the E55 to the CTS-V. I can say without a doubt I don't miss the E55 at all. The CTS-V is not that much faster than the E55 but the big difference is in the handling. It handles so much better and I feel alot more confident in the twisties. Alot of people trash the V on the interior rattles but so far I am rattle free where the pano in the E creaked constantly.

I agree. It wasn't the best choice of words. the point is there aren't a lot of people in Indiana that understand what an AMG can do. Even less in Lafayette were Chad lives. You should see the looks on some of the faces of people that thought they would blow the doors off of my SL55.
I live in Fort Wayne, Indiana. And the people who actually know what AMG is, are few and far between. I could not even count how many people I get in their Mustangs, Trans Ams, pickup tucks, and small motor BMW's trying to show me how awesome they are, lol.

I went from a heads/cam 300C-SRT8 to the CTS-V. Both are great cars and I never had any issues at all with my SRT8, even though it was modded and I beat the **** out of it.
But there's really no comparison. Even a twin turbo SRT8 doesn't compare to the CTS-V. It might be faster, but the interior of the V, as well as the handling, etc., are much better than the SRT8.
I did a pulley/tune on the V for relatively cheap, and I'm putting down ~ 540hp/578tq to the wheels, and ran a best of 11.5 @ 122 my first time at the track, on street tires. My brother has an '05 E55 with pulley/tune and I pull him hard.
I've had the V for almost 2 months and absolutely love it.

2005 E55 / 2008 E63
On a side note, I recently picked up an 08 Ford F250 diesel superduty crew cab 4x4 loaded. 650lbs of torque!! Bring on the curbs, pot holes, steep drive ways, high speed bumps. Went to the mountains last weekend and blew thru a foot of snow for 35 miles. Thing had me as turned on as my 55/63

One word... V12. I skipped the 55K and went from the 55 N/A to the V12 twin turbo. Bear in mind, the CL600 (or most Benzes) can't handle anyway. And you can get a V12 turbo for about the same price as a 55 S/C.
If I want to handle, I'm going to look at a CLK Black, 335, or M3.
If you go F, P, Bentley, Aston, etc. prepare to open your wallet and get your car flat-bedded. I do my work myself.

Z06 is an animal. That was the only car Ive played with that made my e55 feel like there was something wrong with it. It pulled away so quick and left me in the dust! Not sure if it was modded or not but it looked stock. The sound is better then any car including the lambo, and ferarri imo.

That's the 'real' widow maker. 620 hp on a 3,020 lb body. 7 min 18 sec on the Nurburgring-Nordschleife.
The entire allotment has apparently already been sold (500 builds total worldwide.) You'll have to wait for a used one to come on the market.
$245k.
