Yeah that is what he meant lol. The A is the beginning of the part #. The retail cost is over $1500 at the dealer. I just got a new one or else I would be all over this!

do they work perfectly with the e55? What needs to be done in order to get everything functioning and working correctly? I would definitely use this!

yeah they are, but since its just a gauge and doesn't actually do anything i don't think it would matter.

In order to have it programmed it MUST be brand new with it never being in another car. The redline is simply a gauge as abrim stated, so it is basically for looks. The cluster needs to be programmed with STAR and it will work no problem with the e55. The dealer charged me for one hour labor even though they said it took a little longer. Hope this helps.

Awesome thanks for the help man! May have to jump right on this! I love the black gauges, is it you that has the blue interior lights also? I bet that looks amazing with the dash! I'm going to e-mail him to find out if it has ever been installed, says 0 miles but who knows!

Yes I have the blue lights They look awesome at night, and with the new cluster it just makes me On the cluster that is a very good idea to make sure it has not been installed because even if it has zero miles it will not work. For example, I bought a "new" one with zero miles from a seller in Germany that came out of a brand new CLK63, yet Mercedes could not program it because it was "learned" already by another car. Just helping you out so you do not get screwed out of $600 like i did!

The car is at the dealer and they called me and said they "fixed" the problem by putting the regular bulbs back in lmao. I guess it will be up to me to figure out a solution. On the other hand, my car had a leak in the gas tank which was causing a check engine light, so that was good they got that fixed.

BTW, I will start a thread when I get my car back with a few surprises that some might not expect due to having a great service representative!

Cant wait to see it, but i guess you could do a lil math and find resistors to go with your lights, assuming it would work

I know the gauge is for looks lol, but I think it would be annoying if the rpm readings are different...

True. The problem is that they don't require 12v, but less. The thing is though, if u put three in with a single regular stock bulb than they will work. So, I need to wire up the one led bulb to trick the car thinking it is a 12v stock bulb.

Thanks for the advice man, that would be an expensive headache, how did you know the last one you bought was 100% new? I am definitely thinking about doing the blue lights too, i love that look! Did you ever figure out how to make the ceiling lights blue, or is that what you guys are talking about?

The rpm's will read and function correctly, the only difference is our cars will not max out at 8k.

haha that would be some funny/bad sh*t if redline went based on the gauge. my e55 sounded amazing and a lot higher pitched than normal, but then a piston went through my hood and into a store window!!

I did this upgrade to my E55 as I only had the 160MPH top speed guage. The black also looks good and there are a few extra goodies. Mine was not new either and it took using STAR DAS to remove some of the features that were enabled on the donor car. Mikey is correct that if you want the mileage to show in the cluster it has to be a cluster that's got less than 250 miles on it. STAR can then authorize this to the EIS system and all will be good. NOW if you have a used cluster it can be set back to 0 using a device like Tacho Pro or Enigma. At this point STAR can be used to authorize it to the car.

star also seems to let you set a cluster back to 0. i was fooling around with the options and it had the option. i am going to be changing to a new cluster and will try set it to 0. then I can try to add mileage

I wonder if the additional features like oil temp and lap timers are available after the swap.
