An idea for a grill
Forgive me if this has been thrown out there before, but has anyone ever given any thought to a grill that matches the lower grills? I was looking at the car today and wondering if something like that would work or if it would look ghetto/out of place. Thoughts?

All of my grilles are matte black. They came: chrome up top for the main grille between the headlights, and gloss black wire mesh down low near the fogs and over the H/E.

In that case, yes, people have painted it black and it looks GREAT! I believe Shardul on here does if very cheap with shipping.

I painted my top grille matte black, then color matched my lower grilles too [which was so minimal a change as to be hardly noticeable]

No, no, no. I'm talking about removing the bar grill and rerplacing it wih a complete mesh grill to match the lower in color and mesh pattern.
Something similiar to this, but much better looking to be worthy of our cars.![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)

don't do it, only cars that can pull that off is Jag's. Mesh on the top grille doesn't suit the w211 chassis imo. Get the stock grille painted and you'll be much happier.

I think I kind of see where you are coming from.
That is, if you are trying to make area look like a big mouth which in my head might not look to bad as long as there is no mesh.
Just a big ominous whole....
Maybe.....

I think that mesh is the best way to go when trying to customize your own grill. I just redid mine, wire mesh painted black, and it has been great.

Got the mesh there, cut out a piece using aviation snips from mcmaster carr, painted the stainless steel mesh black, and fastened it in (easier said than done).
I will throw up some pictures to show all of you guys step by step, wasn't too hard.

I did this on my B5 back in the day with a Kamei grille with matching lower grilles on a Kerscher bumper and it looked the sex! I haven't tried the look on the Benz yet.
