What is the max amount of nitrous on 55?
i been looking at drag times skimming thru the times etc.. looks like everyone in the 10's is running a 100 shot..
After doing some reading on this site it appears that the stock injectors end up at a pretty high duty cycle to supply fuel on modded motors and you can end up running lean...cylinder 8 seems to be the one that starves worst (rearmost cylinder?)
Having said that, I also saw a newly developed fuel rail setup (return style?) with larger injectors that was being tested for the E55. It was supposed to provide much more consistent pressure to each injector and obviously also deliver the needed fuel at a lower duty cycle on the injector.
All of that sounds like important stuff to have when spraying liberal doses of nitrous...

Something I may do int he future -- but I am only thinking of a small shot 35-75.

This is the one i was looking at, you choose from a 75 shot up to a scary 300.... all on the go too. I just dont want to blow my engine
He talked me into it awhile back and it was a blast. Wet shots into the TB with the nozzle mounted in the plastic Y Pipe.
Only thing I noticed monitoring it with my wide band was there was a small lean spike when you hit the switch but it quickly went away. We think it was the fuel rail draining or something. With these new injectors, I can imagine how big a shot you could hit these things with now!!
If you do it right, 200+ shot and still ok. You need to be able to retard the timing as the shot go up. I personally would go with a wet kit. If I ever decide to go nut, I would run eight nozzles
. Good luck!

Jami, I agree with e55 bullet 175 hp shot on a street car is solid. Especially if you have a separate fuel cell for race gas to supply the nitrous system. Most v8 wet nitrous systems will allow you to get up to around 200-225 hp shot before you have to get into something more serious. Sounds like a lot, I know... Muscle cars have been spraying big (even 09+ CTS-V's) for a long time.

Nitrous is seriously awesome. It's awesome the power it can create and it's awesome the damage it can do.
I would be alllllll about endorsing nitrous if it wasnt for the "unique-ness" of these engines for lack of a better word.
It's been a few years, but I've hand built a couple small block chevy motors with plate foggers and also piggy-back systems as well. Growing up in Phoenix we had a shop called Loper's Performance that was an awesome help in finding all the needed parts-- not just the nitrous, but timing control and fuel supplementation.
The reason I bring this up is that REGULARLY we would damage these motors. Usually just ring lands or the "top land". And sometimes a little worse.
BUT and here's a BIG BUTT..... Everything we had to replace was an over-the-counter- product. Back then it was TRW Forged, Keith Black Hyper-T, or Speed Pro..... It was simply a call to Lopers and then go pick it up.
With these hand built AMG engines it's soooooo much bigger of a roll of the dice.
So How much is a piston for an e55 motor? And how easy is it to get?
i had many nitrous kits before on other cars i bouht a nytrex from DEI this time its in the car now just waiting on a new pulley to get here and tune it after .. i have it jetted for a 50 shot for now but id like to go 100 shot tuned on a progressive controller i have hooked up in there ..will update when i dyno
