Parts.com issue - awful packaging
Guys...part of my order from Parts.com showed up last night. I opened the box to find what looked like a brake pad and sensor explosion. The pads were everywhere...and the sensors were knotted up in their own wires - they actually look used.
Here's the message I just sent to Parts.com along with the pictures of what I saw when I opened the package:
"My brake pads and sensors arrived yesterday and when I opened the package, I was a bit surprised to see the brake pads just thrown into the box along with what appear to be the sensors (which look used) simply knotted together by their own wires.
To say the least, I'm disappointed. While the pads themselves do not appear to be damaged, I am not sure about the sensors.
The packaging did not appear damaged on the outside.
Here's a link to what I saw when I opened the package:
I am most concerned about the sensors. Like I said, they appear to be used with no packaging. The pads themselves had two boxes that look like they were just thrown in to the box."
My rotors have yet to arrive.

That sucks. Joe at parts.com is usually very helpful when it comes to stuff like this. I have received broken parts before and have had them replaced with no problems. Sometimes the parts ship from a dealer close to the customer when they are not stock in the main dealer they work with, so it might not be parts.com's fault. Either way, you should be taken care of. Good luck.

My concern isn't with the brake pads so much...they're pretty tough components. It's the sensors I'm worried about. Literally they're tied together by their own wires. VERY odd. I'm pretty sure that's not how they come new.

Try rockauto.com
I just received my spark plugs for my A4, and one of the six had a bent electrode. Called them, and the response was, keep it a new one was on the way. Did I mention, the VERY next day.
Rockauto is a SOLID company, IMHO.
PS: They are cheap too

They already got back to me...the sensors are not shipped to them individually packaged. They're willing to replace them if I want to ship them back...but they've stated that the sensors will ship like that from anywhere. They're dirty because the pads broke free from their boxes I'm assuming.

I wouldn't worry about the sensors, unless the ends are broken up or cracked.
They are pretty basic parts.

I think its MB of naperville, IL.
Either way, install them. If they cause a problem, replacing them is about a 3 minute affair.

i received my rear rotors, pads and brake sensors all in one box. The pads were in an oem box and taped closed. The sensor was in a ziplock bag by itself. I'm suprised about what you got. I got all of my stuff from Naperville MB

Very odd, something doesn't seem right. I have bought tons and tons of things from parts.com and they always go SUPER overboard with packaging etc... I was pretty pissed for how many boxes and packing material were used for such small/few items lol

Ditto..
You should've seen what my doorstep looked like when I recieved the new 2011 amg blk series bi-xenons & new MB grill I could barely get to my frnt door. Were talking heavy-duty double boxed, & wrapped in saran-wrap w/bubble wrap on inside to boot! Extremely impressed Joe @ Napperville MB is the man!

It was actually Joe that pulled and packed them. I'm pretty sure the box for the pads just fell apart and they slid around in there all over the place. Rotors were supposed to be delivered Friday but I've been out of town - I hope they're in better shape.

Sounds with the latest Blockbuster debacle Hunziega's attention is elsewhere.
Seriously, I just got a bunch of smashed CDs from Amazon. It used to be that these packing places were staffed by folks in sheltered workshops. These wonderful people were glad to have a job and took great pride in packing. These workshops were run by Easter Seals and other true nonprofits.
Today the package hits the carrier and all bets are off.
Maybe you should try Seafoam on the dodgy parts?

Is a sensible alternative for OE parts.
