Kerbed wheel rage...
I am going to preface this rant with letting you know I only arrived in America 6 months ago, I have spend the last 15 years of my life with a British driving license, driving on the right (wrong?) hand side of the car. Thus my position awareness when tired isn't very good when on autopilot.
I was driving back from Houston Coffee and Cars when...
BOTH front and rear passenger side wheels now look like this:
The cost to repair the wheels will be around $500 apparently, and I will be without a car for 2-3 days whilst they are repaired.
Or, for a couple hundred more I could just buy new wheels and transfer my existing tires over...
So this is where I need some advice from you guys. I trawled the picture and wheel thread for ideas.
My car is this:
So, I can get replicas of my OEM wheels for $640.
This is my car again, so it will look like the same
Or I can get a different style of AMG wheels (replica again) for $625
They will look like this:
Another (E63) style of AMG wheels for $700
OR, I could spend some more money and buy some different wheels, such as these Forgestar F14s ($1500)
OR go even higher and get some HREs ($2000)
I am fussy about wheels but the above are styles I think look OK, not sure if they'd look OK on my car mind...
And $1500 for wheels when I can get wheels for under $1000 also means my brain is thinking just wheels for now, or wheels and 2 new PS2's I will need in a couple months...
Do I just repair the originals and save $150, or do I buy a second set so that I wont get so mad when I destroy them? (The idea would be to repair the originals in my own time then).
And If I buy new wheels, what style still maintains the mercedes look but maybe makes the car look like its owned by a younger driver, more of a sporty appearance?
So far, I'm thinking of just buying some of these and repairing the OEMs later:
Thoughts?

Try http://www.wheelsamerica.com/index.php?page=houston
It's about $110 per wheel to make 'em like new. Been there and done the same thing as I'm sure everyone else on here has..

Rocky Roads Refinishing
19800 Cypress Church Rd. (off of Mueschke & 290)
281-373-1544
I have used them twice before with excellent results and great pricing. My previous set of wheels, which looked like your $625 option, were curb rashed by the previous owner and had clearcoat peeling. While I never got them repaired, the estimate to do it was $400 for all 4 wheels, which included painting the centers gunmetal. I'd imagine they could do 2 wheels for ~$200.
BTW, when you go out there, it may look like a country place and the owner may be an old geezer, but he's pretty cool and does good work, in my experience.

Can't offer any advise (spelled correctly just for you) on the wheel repair but since I've owned three out the five wheels you've listed I can give some quick points on the forgestars and two piece reps you have pictured:
first thing to take into consideration: I believe every car you have referenced have 19's on. If you're going for that look - you're buying new tires and the ride will be a little stiffer.
The forgestars are crazy light and braking and handling will be improved (so will acceleration but you notice the others a lot more).
The forgestars and the two piece reps will get equal amount of positive attention - have gotten numerous compliments on both (actually watched someone almost crash as they were looking at my car with the forgestars on and witnessed a stranger taking pictures of my car (focusing on the wheels) with the two-piece reps).
The reps don't need hubcentric rings to adapt to the difference in hub size (the forgestars do).
Don't need new lug bolts for the reps - Forgestars do.
The reps can have the MB star insert - the Forgestars have a CF forgestar insert.
The forgestar offsets are perfect - the reps are fairly conservative.
The reps are much heavier.
The reps are much easier to clean (the Forgestars are a pain in the ***).
Honestly - until you get more use to being on the wrong side of the road - just get the reps (or the stockers repaired) as it's going to happen again - the more you spend on the wheels - the more pissed you're going to be the next time it happens...

Actually I got that wrong, I think I was going to use IMC as they are just down the road from me...
Yup, sabs are on Ponderosa Road
http://www.damagedwheel.com/home.html
IMC are on Schumacher Ln:
http://www.wheelcrafters.com/
I went a couple of weeks ago and saw the work IMC do and its very very good.
Same price as sabs too at $125 per wheel.
Anyone got any opinions on IMC?
